Not really a draft list, but here is my top CHL defenders + Dragicevic;
1. Tanner Molnedyk - Skates like the wind, great potential as a shutdown defender and puck moving defender... Needs work in both the offensive and defensive zone, but plenty of high potential there
2. Andrew Gibson - Big, physical, and terrific skater that I think has high potential as a good two-way defenseman... I really love his man on man coverage... He uses his big body very well and makes a very good first pass... He was Canada's best defender at the u-18 Worlds IMO... Needs to work on his defensive positioning and become more effective in the offensive zone to reach his potential
3. Lukas Dragicevic - For his size, he is one smooth skater and offensive dynamo... He has a great shot to go along with soft hands... I know scouts are worried about his foot speed and some skating mechanics that need slight adjustment, but he is a great impact player, especially on the rush
4. Tristan Bertucci - Big, mobile defenseman that is one of the best puck moving defenders in the class... Plays a physical game and is one of the younger players int he draft class... I think there is a lot of potential to become an offensive defenseman at 5v5... He can sometimes get caught in no mans land, but this looks to be a learning curve he can get past
5. Hunter Brzustewicz - Low center of gravity, muscular, thick bodied defender with a physical edge to his game... On the defensive side of things he loves to take the body... Offensively, he is reminiscent of Cale Makar in the offensive zone without the quickness or shooting ability... He may be the best east-west skating defender in the draft class... He placed second in on-ice skating at the CHL combine only to Nick Lardis... He will need to work on his defensive pressure and gap control due to his main issue of giving up too much space to opposing forwards
6. Oliver Bonk - Big bodied player that can generate speed and maneuver his way into the offensive zone... A safer player to make the NHL and will likely play a fairly conservative role in the NHL... A high IQ hockey player that plays a pro game with limited offensive upside
7. Luca Cagnoni - Best power play defenseman of the crop.... Operates the power play at a pro level already... good defensive hockey IQ and outstanding offensive IQ...Just needs to work on his physical strength (he shies away from contact)... If he was an elite skater, I would have him much higher
8. Beau Akey - Plays a solid game all around... Pretty solid everywhere, but has an elite quality in his north-south skating... He has great acceleration with an above average top speeed... There is really something there... An area of concern is he tends to avoid physical contact, so he needs to add strength
9. Etienne Morin - A power play guru with a heavy shot that always seems to find the back of the net... I think he can run a powerplay and be an effective Evan Bouchard type at the NHL level if everything goes right... I have some big concerns about his defensive play and skating... If he brushes up on those areas, I think he can become an effective offensive defenseman at the NHL level
HM:
10. Caden Price - Skilled offensive defender that I have a tough time projecting at the pro level both offensively and defensively... Definitely some potential regardless of his flaws
11. Quinton Burns - Great compete, good skater, but I have concerns about some of his habbits and decision making with the puck.. still plenty of potential there
12. Cameron Allen - Smaller defenseman that plays a defensive style of play with textbook body contact... With his size, it is very hard to project his style of play at the next level
Matthew Mania - didn't get a good enough read to rank
