Now MJ is comparing Subban's value to Gorges' and Markov's salaries...huh? RFA vs UFA, Mike Johnson...

That's out of context, he wasn't saying that at all. They asked him where PK would rank amongst his own team salary wise. He said (paraphrasing) that if you look at Markov's and Gorges' contracts then PK would be around 5 million. THEN, went on to say that PK is just below other young defensemen like Doughty and Pieteranglo(sp).

They suggested PK getting a bridge contract, like 2 years, then he gets his big deal. I think this is what we will see, especially with the salaries the Habs currently have.

I was a bit distracted, thanks for the clarification.

While I agree that Diaz is still young and has time to develop, him dominating the Swiss league is not amazing.
He played pretty great in the NHL in his first year while adapting to the NA game and ice until he got injured. 29 teams in the NHL would be interested in adding him especially if they got a draft pick with him.

Definitely a little concerned about the amount of players we have, named Price, that didn't play at all during the lockout. Sure they trained but nothing is compared to real game action. Could take some of them some time to get back into game form.

Never thought he played great in his first season. Maybe it's been far too long since the last giveaway?

Let's hope he's matured during the lockout because this defense will need it.

By the way, what are the scouting reports on Tinordi in Hamilton? Saw him against the Crunch at the Bell Center and liked his game. Looks like we'll need a big body back there with all our smallish defenders. Any chance we see him in a Habs jersey even if we have 8 or 9 defenders already?

Well, then you're in the minority. Most people thought Diaz played rather good until about Decemeber-ish. Then it came out that he had an injury and finally they shut him down after a stretch of putrid games.

Take that in stride with a different style of play and a smaller rink and Diaz had an above average first year. He'll be even better this year.

He's getting better, but he's not NHL ready.

I don't think he'd be in the NHL for at least 1-2 years.

Not a chance, unless we run into a lot of injury problems.

He's way to inconsistent right now. He needs at least the rest of the year if not another season. The other dmen are even further away except St-Denis who is NHL ready.

All right. St-Denis may be a good option, but we really need a physical d-man. Lucic will have a blast running in this defense.

"- The upper limit on the salary cap in the first year is $60 million, but teams can spend up to $70.2 million (all pro-rated). The cap floor will be $44 million."

From the tsn article about the end of the lockout. Does anyone know the conditions to allow teams to spend 70M$?

I am pretty sure it's if you are already over 60 M.

Bouillon is the Montreal answer to Lucic.

And next year plus a lot more, Tinordi is the Montreal answer to Lucic. Bergevin and Therrien brought PASSION back in the locker-room with Armstrong, Prust and Bouillon with healthy returnies like White anf Moen.

Now that we have a gigantic scouting crew and an awesome coaching staff, we will fix our issues with time. I have confidence in our management.
