I know it has been discussed but I don't really remember; Is Collberg allowed to come to camp? Or does his SEL contract make him illegible?

Per TSN.

- Each team will be allowed two amnesty buyouts that can be used to terminate contracts after this season and next season. The buyouts will count against the players' overall share in revenues, but not the team's salary cap.

Scotty Gomez, I believe, will be wearing a Habs jersey this season.

Lol Cant wait!

Doesn't mean anything. We can easily leave him in the minors. No team will touch him. Guy is barely a PPG player in the ECHL. He's only posting a slightly higher PPG average than Joey Crabb.

Of its true the buyout can't happen until next season - we have to do something. We have 9 defenseman. MTL would probably lose any dman they sent down except Kaberle and Bouillon.

Not much point leaving Gomez in the minors when most of his salary would still count against the cap....

Between you and me (and the entire board), do you care to loose one of our dman if we need to send one down? Its not like if i'd cry if we loose Bouillon, Kaberle, Weber or Diaz. And with the cap coming down. Not a lot of team would welcome a Kaberle. Maybe we can trade Diaz and Weber for a late pick or another young fragile player?

Are you sure about that? Did the new CBA mention anything about sending down 1-way contracts to the minors?

Sounds like.

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris
It will be harder to bury one-way deals in the minors under new CBA. This season anything over $900,000 in AHL counts on a team's cap.

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris
To be clear, one-way deals in AHL totalling the minimum salary plus $375,000 are exempt from cap. The #NYR have a decision on Redden.

Don't say that. I am sure we could bargain a deal with another team for a 2nd round pick.

Meaning we give up said 2nd round pick for them to get Gomez.

What about sending players to Europe like Huet?

That really does put the Rangers in a tough spot right away. I wonder if Gaborik will be the odd man out?

The point is if he doesn't fit in your lineup, may as well be playing big minutes in the minors instead of being a distraction in the press box.

It will be an interesting one to follow, new coach, new GM and new CBA...how much of a chance will Gomez get.

I still don't think it's a good team on paper but that won't stop me from cheering from the opening faceoff! Hopefully they prove me wrong.

Diaz/Weber don't really have trade value, otherwise they would have been traded. We'd probably have to include a pick just to get another team to take on their salary.

We have 8. Or are you counting FSD? Who knows if he's even at camp with such a short one.

I love that the Rangers are in deep **** with Redden. They have 10.9 M of room, but Redden will count for 6.5 M now. MDZ is a RFA.

Diaz? Hell yeah. Diaz is Top-4 material.

And I don't want to lose St-Denis either.

And Weber has to have a little value somewhere. Even if its just a pick.

No way St-Denis isn't on the club, IMO. Would be stupid to lose him for nothing.

And LOL at the person who said we'd need to add a pick to get rid of Diaz. What kind of joke is that?

We are speculating here, but there may not even be a waiver process for guys already in the AHL this season, so we may not lose him for nothing.
If that's true, then fine, we can leave him there. If there is a waiver process though - I'll be pissed if we throw him away.

TSN wasting air time talking about Gomez. No one cares, he's completely irrelevant.

Now MJ is comparing Subban's value to Gorges' and Markov's salaries...huh? RFA vs UFA, Mike Johnson...
