Finland is number one in at least one aspect (goalies are arguable). Heart for the national team.

Finland I still like Your country, the jaloviina, and of course your women. Entertaining game nonetheless. McDavid face washing the dude that had him in a headlock while laughing was the highlight for me.

Congrats Suomi. Fully deserved to win today. I always enjoy talking hockey with your fans.

Good luck in the knockout rounds. Canada will be finished on Thursday when they lose to Sweden. I'll be cheering for you guys.

Well let me explain.

Well, I don't know - I think your description holds well for some parts of the game like those weird first 5 mins. But otherwise much of that possession was rather inefficient cycling and bad shots from outside the perimetre. Finland did have pretty much an equal number of really good chances and scored from them efficiently. Our goaltender played well and Canada's didn't. In my books this makes Finland the better team.

This game was very important for Koskinen. The attitude against him has been really negative in Finland and hopefully some pressure will now release from some of the fans.

But he lets in so many softies that I don't trust him. Did well this game, though.

From what I saw, good job by the Finns playing their game, and a good learning experience for this inexperienced Canadian group. No reason to think that the result couldn't be switched next time, so overall the game wasn't horrible.

McDavid starts to feel overrated. A none factor so far.

He went from looking like the best player in the NHL to a piece of trash in this tournament. I'd still argue he has looked like Canada's best player thus far but the entire team looks like ass.

Patrik Laine had a great game and is a true elite player. Nice to see more sides of him in this tournament.

Leo Komarov is so good and important for the team with the energy, initaitve and physical play, but it's not just that, unlike the Ruutu's from the past he's skilled too.

Sebastian Aho is so sweet to watch. I feel so sad that he hasn't had the luck to score. I hope he will get a true offensive role in the NHL.

Barkov was a bit invisible today, but I think the whole of Finland fell in love with him this year. Such a smooth player.

...and that baffles me. He's absolutely one of the best goalies in Europe, and he'd be an NHL goalie if he wanted to.

The lack of offense from Canada when they have all that star power up front year after year is the most disappointing thing.

I want to see McDavid work some magic. He's due for a breakaway goal.

Sorry to say, but I'm getting more and more convinced that McDavid is not the next one. Not definitely the class that Crosby was at the same age. Of course he is a very good player for his age. But for sure he is not any tier above the other great prospects. He is definitely overhyped. I have been watching every Canada's game and every game I'm waiting for him to start really showing something truly special. But no, it just doesn't happen. He seems in fact physically pretty weak, and is not really that competitive in battle situations. I was much more impressed with the play from Aho today. Very nice and active playing from him.

Assuming Finland wins against Denmark, Russia against Germany, Czech Republic against USA and Canada against Sweden the quarterfinals, the semifinals would be:

Finland-Russia
Czech Republic-Canada

Is that correct?

Agreed. This is the level that's needed from the starting goalie of a gold medal candidate. He had to prove his worth and he responded brilliantly.

I watched a lot of his games in the NHL and he absolutely was a tier above other rookies. Marvelous player.

Hasn't been so good in this tournee though.

Finland was the better team esp. goaltending and discipline.

Canada was active but didn't put the puck away. I can't really pick anyone to have had a very good game, but contrary to some others I liked McDavid.

Koskinen was good and the boys could have used some luck on all those pucks loose in front of the net. Finnish defense was as bad as I expected apart from Kivisto and Pokka. I was very impressed with Aho.

Laine was quite impressive and right in the middle of things. He did turn the puck over twice but he also had take aways and created several chances and got three of his own. I would say it was his best game of the tournament so he did live up to the occasion. He didn't seem to be bothered with the higher tempo and less space nor much more physical opponents.

Finnish depth forwards funnily enough with good goaltending and discipline as well as being able to withstand the storm that Canada brought in the beginning was their part of winning. Canada didn't put the puck away and - Talbot.

I think so.

Russia will be a though opponent.

No, the winners of any group can't meet until the finals. I think...
