What are some forward equivalents of Gustaffson (Both salary and talent)?

Poulin can't count... I'm not surprised
You mean the guy who said "the only reason we get outshot is because teams are expecting to outshoot us" when he was part of our front office can't do simple things like count?
How about this "Matthews should be a winger at the NHL level".

I expect the Leafs may move Holl to clear some of the deck chairs. I think adding a top nine forward would be ideal but with the cap situation, its very difficult to see who they could bring in (even moving Holl's money) - since there aren't many rentals available.

Perhaps there is something they can do with Henrique at 50%, Garland retained(?) and the Boston pick, but i'd be surprised if it works out.

I think the team is well positioned, but they really could use another driver who can play up the lineup, just not many available today

Expecting a quiet day from the Leafs front and that's fine

I think we have done well, now it's for the players to start gelling
Agreed, and some around here will be upset. The moves they made already are great. I expect them to stand pat, or a small move to help the F depth.

If the Leafs had done nothing up until now and made the O'Reilly, Cookie, McCabe, Lafferty, Schenn etc. trades today this board would be over the moon.

A defence man has to be moved.

I get the desire for depth, but 9 defenders makes no sense.

Holl is the one with value that is the most likely in trade and he’s a UFA. I don’t understand why he wouldn’t be move for a 2nd or 3rd. We aren’t re -signing him for the $4-5 million he will want as a UFA and we already have replacements in oir pipeline. Already he is not in the plans in a Top 4 role. Get something for him now.

Kerfoot’s play last night cemented he isn’t going anywhere, and while he’s not my favourite player, at least he shows up, plays hard, knows our system, and has stayed remarkably healthy. He isn’t being moved, so I’m just going to hope he goes on a scoring streak for us. It’s not like he’s not getting any chances….
Holl's not going anywhere, IMO.

Mentioned two names above, Raddysh and Frost would be good targets IMO. Both at a 800k cap hit and would improve our offensive depth. I’d probably pick Raddysh over Frost, and the cost should be cheaper. A third line of Kerfoot - O’Reilly - Raddysh would be pretty solid.

We're gonna have to sweeten the pot if we want to make the salaries work...assuming we want a guy with talent to come in.

Worth noting rosters are expanded and Leafs have enough cap space to recall a forward to run 13F and 9D. It becomes weird if there's a short-term injury though for sure and I don't think a few guys would love to sit out for a long time on defense.

So if they can't make a deal, expect Holmberg (or someone) to get recalled.
I could proabably live with that but I'd need to see Bobby McMann get another honest shot.

I expect a quite day as well, maybe flip Gus for a pick but that's about it

My pipe dream is Perron though

I'd be a bit shocked if no teams had interest in Gustafsson with the season he's had and the fact that he's near league min.

Maybe a western team looking for a boost.

I've accepted that Keefe and Management see too much value in what Kerfoot and Holl bring so they won't go anywhere

For anyone hoping for Arizona retention and/or Arizona players, the Yotes have used all of their retention slots and won't be a cap broker today.
If the Leafs include Kerfoot (or dump him to another team), they can fit Crouse perfectly. Like only a few thousand dollars remaining. Almost like they planned it. It’ll mean that they can’t sign Knies but he’d likely be included in the deal anyway.

Have to think Gustafsson stays as a #8 in case of a Reilly injury. He will get some games down the stretch but don't expect him to play any playoff games.

Rielly Schenn
McCabe Brodie
Giordano Liljegren
Gustaffsson _______
Benn (AHL)

Holl or Timmins will be traded today.

Watching trade centre while I work

Anyone picking, Dallas, LA over us for cup favorites is really questionable.

I disagree with Edmonton as well, but I get it given the McDavid factor and their conference being largely crap
Why? Odds that one of them come out of the West have to be better than the Leafs coming out of the East.

Detroit used their last retention spot on Vrana, so I think that makes Perron unlikely for us unless a third team gets involved. Disappointing

Am I the only one who doesn't want to part with a 1st or Knies for Crouse? I mean.....getting Crouse means saying goodbye to ROR for cap reasons.

Can people explain the fascination with screwing up future moves?
Seems like a lot to be giving up for a better Nick Ritchie

Would Noah Gregor for Gustaffson work? Another Sam Lafferty type. Insane speed and has some offensive upside. Has some tenacity as well
