I like that more than Kampf at 3C, but I also am a skeptic of putting Knies into a playoff lineup. Zero NHL experience and not accustomed to the system, or playing this much hockey in a year. I love him as a prospect, but if he signs I will be legitimately surprised if he makes a meaningful impact in the lineup the way we might need him to

That is all I literally said, I never mentioned anything about adding a goalie.

You can say that about literally every 3rd string goaltender. If Boston uses their 3rd stringer, they probably won't win either.

I'd much rather take my chance on Woll than Hutchinson or some journeyman goaltender.

Having said that, I don't see Rittich type coming in and doing a better job, with the caveat that there is a 99.9% chance that goalie never sees the ice.

The Leafs are not going to get an improvement without paying a significant cost to someone who - if they have to play - probably means the Leafs aren't winning the Cup regardless.

There is no scenario where I see the benefit.....the G would have to stay on the roster, which means it would force several trades just to accommodate this.

Just for the record I never mentioned adding a goalie. Just said if we are down to Woll in the playoffs we are probably done. Adding a turd goalie wouldn’t change that

I'm shocked that Gus hasn't been flipped already, is Rielly insurance really that important? Shedding Engvall and getting nobody besides O'Rielly that can make a real offensive impact?

Look up Kreider’s career

For every Kreider, there are a lot more college players who don’t make an NHL impact at the end of their college season.

It also took Kreider 2 more years to make the NHL full time after his playoff debut.

I’m not saying it’s impossible for Knies, I’m saying it’s unlikely for him to come in and be a difference maker the way we would hope for him to be.

Worth noting rosters are expanded and Leafs have enough cap space to recall a forward to run 13F and 9D. It becomes weird if there's a short-term injury though for sure and I don't think a few guys would love to sit out for a long time on defense.

So if they can't make a deal, expect Holmberg (or someone) to get recalled.
