dont understand people complaining about the Dmen depth if someone like Rielly gets hurt it will be a good move to have Gust if a Holl or McCabe get hurt it will be good to have Schenn. also if were scoring in bunches but can't keep the puck out of our net or lacking some physicality we can insert Schenn, if the offense is not going we can insert Gust to try and add a little bit of a spark on the back end.

Depth is nice but we have 10 dmen and can only play 6. We didn't do anything to improve the scoring ability of the bottom 6 which was also a need. If we play ROR as a 3C, he has no winger support to help him out.

People just automatically plugging in Knies and thinking he's just gonna be good because he's a big guy don't understand how hockey works.

Getting RoR just to play JT on the wing kinda pisses me off a little

You can't rely/put that pressure on knies.

Even the Habs didn't with caulfield at first

Really really wish we grabbed one more winger.

Last year we had an injured bunting and he didn’t have a great series.

One extra winger could give more insurance for injuries.

I like the moves and our team on paper much more when you slot ROR in a 3rd line C spot.

With the current setup, These bottom two lines don't inspire much confidence that they'll be able to semi consistently generate offense over 4 potential playoff series.

We can run three strong lines and then have a good 4th anchored by Kampf's defensive ability along with two physical wingers.

Keefe went to a few different lines in the third last night and the speed and flow seemed to pick up.

Because we didn't address the need down there lack of secondary scoring.

We've got a bunch of grinders who have never flirted with 20 goals, and Kerfoot.
We got O'Rielly? Knies coming too. Lafferty was a 10 goal guy in Chicago and actually brings speed to our roster down there. Acciari has shown he can score in this league scoring as many as 20 in a season(even though I believe he did that in the top 6 of Florida). Then you say we didn't address this need and people name off players on the Marlies who will probably never flirt with 20 goals in this league as well on this team.

That's what they've done so far. It's always possible that they try ROR as 3rd ;ome center. I'm not sure we can really say what the playoff line-up will be until game 1 of the TB series. Far better to wait and react to a real line-up than a projected one.

How many dmen can we possibly get through in 7 games?

Well what's the point of getting Schenn when when we have 7 guys who will play ahead of him (assuming you want Timmins who you just extended to get some playing time in). It makes no sense.
If Holl plays ahead of Schenn, Keefe should be fired into the sun immediately. Schenn should babysit Reilly and he does the things no one else on this D does... he hits and clears the front of the net.

We're going to be elite and go 3D 2FWs baby

were one of the best offensive teams in the league and I just showed you why having different styles of dmen can be beneficial to our lineup. we have plenty of offensive options to put out there for 3 lines.

Right now we still don't have a 2LW if we do that

With the market at what it was that's a mistake imo

Tavares-O'Rielly-Jarnkrok
Kerfoot-Kampf-Nylander

Nylander playing so good but I don't think he has chemistry with anyone. Seems to do well with Kampf and kerfoot though

I won’t be surprise to see JT on the 3rd line LW with Kampf and Kerfoot.
It solves the bottom 6 scoring problem.
That line can hold its own against even opposing top line.
It could be our HBK line.

We were the 2nd best offensive team last year in and the final 3 games of the Tampa series, Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander scored or assisted on every single goal with 0 contributions from the defense or bottom 6 with the exception of the 1 goal by Morgan Rielly in Game 7.

Last night keefe put tavares on the center of the second line like he promised earlier this season. This might have been the final nail and now he'll continue with these. O'Reilly is a great player but not so productive anymore and he doesnt have to be so they might Rolling with thise centers now: matthews, tavares and o'reilly

What is your best D pairing?

(Assuming Holl is in for me because he obviously will be)

For me
Rielly-brodie/schenn/McCabe
Lily-gio
Holl/Gus-brodie/schenn/McCabe

Yep. Folks need to take into account the specific skillets/strengths of the depth. Iworh the current set up the Leafs can replace any capability they may need in the backend, from physicality to puck moving

ROR is a great addition, not enough though. We're essentially relying heavily on the core guys who have failed miserably when it's come to the line once again. The fact that Matthews looks like absolute garbage compared to the last couple of years certainly doesn't help.

I have no faith in Samsonov either, defense looks good, top 6 is great, bottom six is meh, goaltending meh.

Moving the dude whose been our second best player this year onto the third with scrubs seems like it isn't the play
Ya i hear you and agree however Nylander never passes to O'Rielly for some reason, goes in and out of chemistry with Tavares or Matthews. If he's on the third you can double shift him on every line a lot more.
