All considered, it feels stupid holding onto Bruins 2023 1st here.
I get the sentiment. But they've also already traded 2 1sts.

1. It's not like they haven't done anything

2. Just because you have them, doesn't mean you absolutely need to trade them

3. If opposing GMs hold this sentiment "You have it Dubie, you should trade it!" then they can swindle us for a deal. I truly believe if there's a deal to be made with it, it would be dealt. The question is, is there one? It's easy for us to sit there and think/hope/pray/fantasize anyone and everyone is available. But they aren't. Just because you have the pick, doesn't mean the others are willing to give a proper piece for it.

Does that make an early 2nd a late 1st?

Nobody claimed it was a higher 1st, just call it as it is. A late 1st. Simple, no?
You can call it whatever you want. Most teams don't value a 1st round pick that they expect to be in the 30th-32nd range very differently to a high 2nd round pick, because the quality of players available tends to be pretty similar

I really thought Dubas would have done something today.

He wasn't my first option but with the lack of LW scoring in the top 6 I would have taken Domi at that price.

For those who think we're done, curious, how do we feel about our plan to keep 9 defensemen?

Honest question, it seems y'all are right considering it's already 1:40PM, I just don't understand Dubas' rationale for acquiring 9 NHL Defensemen, especially if it means one of our best (Lily) doesn't play.

Personally, despite being a fan of Dubas work, I don't really agree with this approach considering this is the most invesment we've done towards the playoffs in years. Especially considering Schenn, Gustafsson, Holl are UFAs.

True but who is available?
Wilson is a dream.
Perron is just mentioned here by us.
They are not going to get Saros.
Think Jensen resigned with the Caps.
The only name out there that would help is Gudas.

I really don’t want any poor defensive forwards added. I have really liked having 4 strong defensive lines.
I’d love an upgrade on Kerfoot but he has to be someone I am comfortable with in all situations for me.

Don’t want the leafs to make changes for the sake of making a trade. I think they need to let the new guys find their roles and settle in. I’m not sure why they are rolling 9 D still might wanna trade one away for depth at another position or for a pick

Wouldn't make a move for the sake of it .. there's no desperate need to add a forward, especially with not many options left.

McMann and Holmberg both made strong cases that they could be contributors .. and then Knies as well could have an opportunity.

I'm more surprised/disappointed that they wouldn't move a depth d-man now .. Gustafsson seems like an easy candidate to get a mid to late round pick for.

Lily will absolutely play. He was out as he was banged up, and he wanted to give the new guys some ice time.

In all probability, this is our lineup as we sit right now.

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Holl
Giordano - Liljegren

Gus - Schenn first subs
Timmins - next years project.

Schenn might get games in as a 7th, or if we have a need for physicality.

Having the backups in case of injury, that are decent NHL players, and having Timmins for next year is good with me.
