I’m glad you care more about a career journeyman’s career earnings than you do your own teams playoff success…..

If we manage to go on a run to the cup we will need at least 8 D. Why is this so hard for people to understand
? These guys are human, it's a legit PA related issue and Gus doesn't bring anything to the table really that would move the needle for us anyways. It's already been stated numerous times that we have 9D and that's not even counting Jordie Benn who can be called up.

Even Chris Johnston said he saw a D getting moved because there would be a couple guys who would get upset that they wouldn't be able to play. Gus has played every single game this year and was having a productive year on track for almost 50 pts.

What an ignorant and stupid post this is.

How many rookie with less than 20 game they played in playoff with tqmpa juat for fun? They domt just took young player or rookie and put in the line up, rookie earn his spot, its a huge difference
That's immaterial and completely besides the point. His play will determine whether or not he stays in the lineup.

But in no way does this mean that he CAN'T help. People keep pushing that narrative. All he has to be is better than ZAR/Laffery etc. If he is, he plays. He'll be the 13th forward if he's not.

No one is looking at him to come in to be a superstar.

Do you think he would be the first replacement if a LD goes down? For me it depends on how good McCabe-Brodie are down the stretch. I can see Keefe sliding Brodie to LD and dressing whoever of Schenn/Holl/Lily he has scratched before going to Gus.
I think he is insurance against Rielly getting hurt so we still have a D for the PP.
with Sandin gone we have no one else I’d be comfortable with there

I can confirm it is. 30° in Jamaica without a cloud in the sky baby. Only way to do TDL from now on
I remember over 20 years ago being a young kid in a swimming pool in St. Maarten hoping for Rob Blake. Back then, it probably took hours just to find out that we did not get Blake.

Good point - if McCabe/Gio go down slide over Brodie and throw in the extra RHD. If Rielly goes down bring in goose.

We’re not going to trade it just to trade it:

We still traded 2 1sts of our own this year.

Who says we dont trade it at the draft also?

Trading it at the draft doesn't help this year.

There's a non-zero chance they are trading Matthews at the draft and taking the team into an entirely different direction. Give this team the best chance. Go get a Perron when we need a forward and still have a 23 1st.

Because the 28th-32nd pick isn't going to help this core?

How many teams that have gone "all-in" still have a 2023 1st?
A lot of contenders over the years have kept their 1sts. They trade some every so often, but they also keep them.

I'm also wondering if in 2021 we were questioning if a pick between 50-60 would be helping this core.

You just never know.

Honestly, there's not many available players left that i would use the first for. If we hold it and Dubas does his trade backs at the draft to acquire more capital, I would be happy with the asset management more than throwing it away just to say we went all in.

Lmao a PA issue?
Players get healthy scratched all the time. As long as they are getting paid there is no PA issues.
I care about my team potentially winning a cup and I unlike you apparently understand that we likely would need 8D to do that.

If we were gonna trade Gus why did we play him last night? It’s not like 1 game with us was going to showcase him more than the 50 he played in Washington

Do you have counting issues bud? We have 8D without Gus being factored in already AND Benn.

1- Zar/lafferty and even holmberg are player keefe can trust no matter what because hes already know what he could bring... its not the case with knies. Its the same with player in his team, who do you thing they will trust the most a proven veteran or kids who come from NCAA...

2- did lafferty or Zar bring leadership of some aspect of the game we cant calculate?

3-its not about get the best player on the ice, its about getting the best chemistry. Chemistry is much more important than skill or anything else

Matthews and Nylander are eligible to sign extensions this July as they approach UFA status. Keeping a first round pick for the next two years instead of doing whatever we can to finally win a round is just so far out of the realm of acceptable to me

Timmins doesn’t belong anywhere near a playoff roster. He has potential to be a good Dman some day but he definitely isn’t ready for that.
And Benn? Oh yeah that’s the guy I want to see as our PP QB if Mo goes down. Lol He is so great no one wanted him for free a week ago.
