Murray + Timmins
For
Rutta

Give Dubas back his buddies.

Rielly-Schenn
Brodie-Liljegren
McCabe-Rutta
/Giordano

Not sure we should be trading Timmins if only because he is younger and our defense gets really old with 33 year old Rutta + Brodie, 34 year old Schenn, and 40 year old Gio. And then if we do not get Rutta, and maybe get DeSmith instead, then they have too many RD in the NHL (Petry, Letang, Rutta, Ruhwedhl, Timmins).

I could see Murray @ 50% for DeSmith as a base though. DeSmith gets flipped for a mid-round pick. They can even re-sign Jarry and reform that tandem once again. And I do not see Dubas wanting a guy who had to take a plea bargain for assault on a woman, even though it happened a decade ago.

He's 100% going to make changes to the blue line to make it harder to play against. He just said as much while being interviewed by Kypreos and Bourne.

That probably means Schenn is being re-signed to start and then other moves following. Wonder if Liljegren gets moved?

Mayfield still kinda feels like a Treliving guy, just not sure how that ages.

Some speculation NYR may not love Trouba's contract as much as they love the player...don't think he wants to waive though.

Like the players too but we gotta stop getting guys whos bodies are halfway on decline due to play

We have to start identifying and paying for guys who are trending that way and need opportunity

The next Mayfield is Will Borgen. He's about to sign a nice RFA contract under 2M that will look like a steal midway through next season.

200% agree.. i was pushing him last summer on canucks board as a target

That is the type of player to identify.. exactly

Step 1: Call Dubas and offer him Murray for Petry. Dubas gets a goalie he likes and saves 1.5M and an extra year of term. Both players are probably a cap dump at this point. Leafs get a legitimate top 4 RHD, although on the decline.

Nice suggestion.

I don't watch as much of the other teams around the league anymore so appreciate the insight.

Ross Colton should be a top target. He appears to be a stuck in Tampa with no real chance to reach his offensive ceiling. He was third among Tampa forwards in hits/60 behind Jeannot and Maroon, his ES goals/60 was 5th on Tampa right behind Stamkos and ahead of Kucherov. He is 2nd among Tampa forwards in ES goals/60 since he broke into the league. His projected contract is 3-4 years x3M (EvolvingHockey, AFP Analytics). That might be too rich for Tampa's blood. I'd offer Jarnkrok for Colton straight up - Tampa gets the cheaper player coming off a 20 goal season, they also get a right shot winger which they only have one of (Stamkos).

Great target but all depending on price range.. i could legit see him getting 4ish

Never underestimate the asshole factor 😉
That's why his name is being brought up on the Leafs board. I definitely think he has the capability to play as a 4M player which is why I think the Leafs should pursue him as a 3M player. If the Leafs could acquire their 2024 2nd I'd love to see them OS him between 3-3.5M.

Grundstrom should be a target. He has turned into a decent power forward. He is stuck behind a lot of middle 6 forwards on the LAK and was third on the team in ES goals/60 among LAK forwards. He would definitely be worth a shot in Toronto's top 6 or an actual 3rd line - depending on acquisition cost.

Any expiring UFA guys aside from Schenn or Acciari whom I suspect we may sign, that would hold any value? Most likely ROR but could we grab a 5th-7th for the rights? When you have 3 picks in the draft, you gotta look at all options.

Love grundstrom

Also like price depending Kiviranta, Duhaime, Di Giuseppe off the top of my head without looking deeper

ROR would likely be the only one. He is the best center in FA outside of the Boston boys, who will likely retire or re-sign in Boston and they're much older. If they can't sign him themselves, then that is something they should aim for.

Anyone else think we should bring in Alex Nylander? Would love to have him on the team battling for a spot at the bottom of the line up.

Giordano retiring might do us some good. He's officially washed. Would make decisions a lot easier

Also think Connor Clifton might be a target

Isn’t he the type of bottom 6 player the Leafs should move away from? Which bottom 6 player on any of the final 4 teams this year reminds you of Alex Nylander?

Doubt it would ever happen, but a trade around Willy for E Lindholm would be so nice for the leafs. Could probably get Lindholm re-signed for cheaper than Willy's next contract.
