It was a ludicrous decision as shown by Detroit's shift. Valera wasn't even waiting to square up, he was set before Soto even went into his windup. At least asking Kirk to bunt would of kept the 1B honest vice cheating past the mound

That was one of the dumbest Buck rants I've ever heard.

Basically: Kirk's offensive ceiling isn't that high because he doesn't have any power and singles don't mean much because he'll just clog up the bases. Then later Dan mentioned having him as a bat off the bench when rosters expand and Buck said he shouldn't come off the bench because he doesn't have any power and you want a bench bat who can hit HR.

Not that we should expect any different coming from Buck, but he clearly knows nothing about Kirk.
