Yeah, I'm still on team "DFA Valera and give Smith his roster spot", but this is probably a short-term utility spot, so no sense removing someone from the 40-man just yet.

I just realized the AAA season runs all the way through to the end of the MLB season this year instead of ending in early September - makes sense since they got started a month late. But that kinda sucks because I can see them leaving a guy like Smith in AAA for the stretch run and playoffs instead of giving him the MLB shot he deserves. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Yeah its unfortunate he isnt getting a shot. Perhaps its the 40 man issue, or they see something we dont or they just dont believe he is ready or an MLB player, no one knows. Or maybe they just dont want to add him to the 40 man yet, maybe there is a trade they were discussing and they would like to revisit it in the offseason. Who knows?

But to me he deserves a shot over Valera. At Lopez is better if it is Valera who he is replacing.

I wonder why they didn't call up Palacios? I like Lopez but Palacios has some major league experience.

Oh, and guys, if you hate the YouTube commentary so much, MUTE IT and then turn on the RADIO for their commentary. That's what I did.

We can still make trades right? Just have to clear waivers? Or this year is different?

You can trade players who aren’t on the 40 man roster.

Which is interesting. Wonder if that’s why they are keep Smith off. Maybe we can trade him for another good prospect they like not on the 40 man.

The deadlines were different this year? I remember there use be two deadlines but i guess due to covid there was only one? Teams use to quietly put high salaried players on waivers. If there were no claims they could trade them? Something like that :)

You are right. That was the process prior to last year, process change last year and this year.

Welp, Riley Adams.

And I want a Carter Kieboom on my baseball team everyday, abundant twice on Sundays.
