After seeing that I think we could get Myers for a good price.

That was pretty massive package in return, Buffalo did quite well in my opinion. Myers is going to be unbelievable expensive especially for how inconsistent he has been to date in his career. I honestly don't think we have the pieces they are looking for, the Sabres GM said anyone is available but cautioned that Myers and Girgensons would be very expensive.

I've liked how Kesler plays and all, but man I've never been a fan of the guy. Dude dives, whines, and talks so much ****.

I live in Vancouver so I watch him play a lot and I couldn't agree more.

Also as others have said we don't need another injury prone star. We have more than enough of those.

miller is a bonafide stud goalie, top 5 in the world

its a good solid return but its not outrageous

For 20 games I think they did quite well, now Halak might try to get a better team it hurts. But goalies really should be cautioned for this approach if you get fair offer to be a teams #1 you should take it and run. Goalies have gotten pretty good this isn't the 80's or early 90's. Most goalies that have tried to play out free agency have paid a price for it. Vokoun will never get back the money or playing time opportunity he turned down in Florida. That market isn't that big it is generally why goalie trades are always disappointing.

Stewart has RFA control (sounds like they are dealing him) and the other assets were pretty nice. We will see, but I think they did well. I like the deal for both teams, so outrageous isn't really what I thought, just think Buffalo got a good haul in a difficult situation.

I'd accept a guaranteed first round play-off exit if we keep all our top prospects ie keep the playoff streak going and keep all our young dudes who I think will be the next Stanley Cup winning core (and corps for that matter) for the winged wheelers.

given that we won both our games this week and dont play against till tuesday night one has to believe that holland is thinking more along the lines of doing something vs doing nothing

Completely agree with this point, important to keep that in mind. Their next three games are also very winnable, they can gap themselves from New Jersey pretty much entirely next week in terms of their ability to re-catch the Wings. They beat the Avs when they were playing their best hockey of the year, the Wings have a chance to get on a little roll here and my guess is that is what Holland thinks as well. Plus it appears Ottawa is really chasing the market.

For a 2nd-pairing defenseman? No.

I'm ok with trading Smith if it means Edler comes the other way. Don't want Jarnkrok or Pulkkinen gone.

I'm fine with trading Pulkkinen when we've got Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, and Mantha who all look like they are going to be or already are top 6 wingers. And at this point, Smith will be lucky if he ever has Edler's resume.

I honestly wouldn't worry much about trading Smith, Pulkkinen and this years 1st rounder for Edler or Ehrhoff.

This. This is why you collect assets and develop a 1st rd player may bust, Pulkkinen, while he looks good, you never know, he should be good but I see him as a second line player, however we have plenty of guys that could be on the 1st two lines. Use your strengths to help fix a weakness. I would have no problem with that trade.

With the Wings being on the bubble I'd be unwilling to trade our 1st rounder in any trade.

I'd look to sell off dead weight for late round picks to free up roster spots and to continue to stock our prospect pool, but unless a deal for a #1 defenceman comes around I'd just stick with what we have.

I agree with most of what you're saying.

I very much like Pulkkinen as much a trading piece. With Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, and Mantha all on the wing, he's very expendable.

And the way he's developing and the season he's currently having in GR makes him a pretty enticing prospect.

Smith is what he is so far. He's a nice player with good skill, but I don't know that he'll ever be reliable enough for a top 3 role. Him and Kindl are both expendable as part of a package if another defenceman is coming back in my mind. Especially an Edler or Ehrhoff.

I'd hate to lose the 1st. At what cost is the question though. A top 3 defenceman gives us a real good team the next couple years.

I won't hide the fact that Pulkkinen's always been one of my favorite Wings prospects so I'm biased, I don't want to see him go. However, from an objective standpoint, I think his value will increase significantly in the next couple seasons. He gets totally overshadowed by Nyquist, Tatar, Mantha and Jurco so to trade him now would be selling low. Wait a year at least and he'll have have more AHL experience and likely some NHL experience as well and he'll be worth more.

Pulkkinen is starting to make himself hard to move, he and Jarnkrok with another multi-point game so far tonight and Pulks got his 22nd on another ripping slap shot.

Some of these guys are going to have to move at some point, but the Jarnkrok and Pulkkinen connection is getting awfully intriguing.

Edit: Jensen's goal now credited to Pulkkinen on a deflection so up to 23, Jensen's first pro point has been playing really well and looks like he will gt the ice time Marchenko's injury has allowed.
