Yeah that's true If Holland Is still trying to work out a deal for Edler, Quincey could still be part of that package AKA Cap dump.

That's true, but we really don't need to dump cap anymore with Z on LTIR the rest of the year, which makes a trade easier.

Two of those guys were on waivers and no teams were interested. What makes you think someone would give up anything to get them? Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if someone claimed Eaves if he's exposed to waivers again.

Quincey is another story though. He's played pretty well recently, but I just don't think many team would see him as a good rental. I could see him being traded in a multi-piece deal though.

Ott's asking price is apparently a 1st+, that's what makes guys like Eaves and Tootoo more desirable. Though, it seems Kenny's not trading anyone for picks, which doesn't make a helluva lot sense when he'll may end up just chucking them through waivers instead.

I have to hope he's more open to moving a guy for picks than he's saying.

Marty St. Louis has requested a trade from the #Lightning, Newsday confirmed.

Are they really that far behind what everyone else has been reporting for days now?

My bet is he does end up with the Rangers.

Weird, does he miss Richards or something?

maybe just pissed enough over Yzerman's "lack of support" in the whole olympic thing to try to screw him. Just because he requests a trade doesn't mean the Lightening have to move him, though, does it?

No but that would just make him even more upset with the Lightning and he probably wouldn't play with much effort from here on out.

Nope Yzerman could still refuse to trade him, Pretty sure there's nothing In the rulebook that says that a GM has to trade a star player just because he was snubed by the Olympic Committe. Marty Is a future hall of famer and needs to start acting like one.

Was more that he was only willing to go to the Rangers that caught my eye. Every single contender would be interested.

Honestly though, if he really wants to move it makes a ton of sense for Steve to move him. You can get real assets out of him that helps Tampa far longer than the 16 months that's left on his contract. Tampa probably have their best window of opportunity beyond 2015 anyway.

If this is really all about the snub, then I really wonder about Marty's mental state.

You are playing for a team who will likely be a top 3 division team and potentially make a playoff push. You are playing alongside one of the best centers in the game right now (when he is healthy). What is so bad in Tampa that makes you want to leave in this fashion?

Kinda hard to not trade a player who has formally requested one. Essentially he has gone through the formal channels of telling you he is no longer interested in playing for you. Of course Yzerman doesn't have to trade him but really why would you keep a player who does not want to be there, bad form.

I'm surprised about St. Louis. I'd be even more surprised if it's true that he'll only go to NYR. He's shafting Tampa by demanding a trade in the first place and then ensuring they'll get a weak return.

If the Rangers thing isn't true, I bet SJ will try to land him. They're always in on big trades and you've got to think Yzerman would prefer to deal him out of the conference.

Not sure if its been posted yet, from Mlive:

Holland said Wednesday that he is not going to spend valuable assets (top prospect, first-round draft pick) on a rental player. He also said he is not going to be a seller.

He’d like to make a trade for a player who can help the club now and in the future

Holland said he will be busy exploring the marketplace over the next week. He said calls are starting to come in; he spoke to a half-dozen or so general managers at the Olympics.

“I think this time of year you’re always looking for defensemen, but obviously there’s a lot of teams looking for defensemen,” Holland said. “We’ll see. It depends on what’s available. I don’t see us playing a big price on a rental. I don’t believe that’s the direction we should go but you never know when you get to Wednesday.

My highlights from Khan's MLive article:

So confirmed other teams are inquiring about some Wings players. I wonder who?

“We’re set in goal,” Holland said. “With the development of (Tomas) Jurco, (Gustav) Nyquist, (Tomas) Tatar, (Riley) Sheahan, -- if you have a healthy (Johan) Franzen, (Pavel) Datsyuk, we expect to get (Stephen) Weiss back next week – we feel up front (they’re set).

I guess there's room for interpretation but I pretty much see that as meaning those two are up for good now.

I refuse to deal Tatar.

I think the Canucks would want a bigger forward anyways and a high end d-prospect. Obviously add in the possible cap dump and pick.
