Post-Game Talk: Poor discipline and poor reffing is a bad combination

He was also pretty clearly "not saying" that the refs were obvously garbage. We've outshot them in every game and outplayed them in all of them as well, yet every game we're down in penalties.

Completely atrocious.

That penalty by Drais is not called 999 times out of 1000 same with the Desharnais one. The only real penalty we were called on all night was the RNH one in OT. Which we should have been on the PP because of the McD play that happened thirty seconds beforehand, if they're calling the same game as Kostin. It's time for the league to move forward and sit the f***ing refs in the stands. At this point it's not even a question.

Man not for opportunity. Korpisalo is lights out. 5 on 5 we've been far superior.

All of the penalties tonight save from RNH's were not dumb penalties. they were refs looking for calls. We've trailed 7 minutes in this series, yet we're down 15-8 in PPs that should tell you enough about what's going on.
Nuge's penalty in OT was not dumb. Thats a major scoring chance in OT right center slot if he doesn't take the penalty. In those situations you take the chance that the team will kill a penalty in OT. You don't just let the guy walk into the slot.

Nobody to blame but themselves really.

The reffing is a piss poor excuse. Bone head penalties in both overtimes. Absolutely incredible.
This argument is bunk, you are pretty much telling one team they can play aggressively and one team they can't. It hard to win knowing any bullshit will be called no matter how insignificant.

I ma not defending the refs here. They have been brutally inconsistent.
Thats basically my point.
Draisaitl isnt stupid. He has seen these type of plays get called for the 2 previous games.
Why give these inconsistent refs the opportunity to call something?
Its simple...just skate away.

I never said it was dumb. I just said it was the only real penalty ( out of the ones that were called) that we took. I wasn't mad, just felt like, considering the game that was called prior, the shit on Connie was exaclty the same as the Kostin penalty.

Yeah I understand, why give them a chance. But that shit hasn't been called for how f***ing long? Stop trying to justify that man.

The bottom line is that reffing aside, Korpisalo has been great for them. How many times has he been bumped into, screened, etc.? I'm not saying to run him, but we are not getting into his grill and making his life miserable. Kane and Hyman in particular need to be doing this as well as Bjugstad and Kostin in the bottom 6.

Check his playoff stats. He’s a money goalie.
Bang. I suspected he is. People can say short sample, sure, but he's been pretty incredible in playoffs I don't know its a mirage. He's sporting these numbers, gaudy, against teams that can score too. 3 playoff series against teams that can score and he's got. 2.07GAA and 937%. Thats just filthy.

Goalies can elevate in playoffs or big games , just like some players do. But for goalies it requires some phenomenal kind of mental aspects and calm to be able to do this in playoffs. Some guys have it.

Actually...the reality is that shit has been called this entire series so far.

Sorry that this has been answered a few times, (I don’t know) but when was the last unsportsmanlike called similar to the Draisaitl penalty called? I have watched the NHL for 30+years and can’t ever recall? Did he get a few WARNINGS?

Yamamoto just looks so physically overmatched in the playoffs. Get him off Draisaitl's line please.
yeah its just weird. Woody switches out Kane for RNH which is helpful but he keeps Yams in there who is not.

Woody has little of the classic coach sense of which players are on, feeling it, or going. Kostin and Ryan and Bjugstad have shown me they have got some game in this series but they're not getting the consistent looks with Drai, and when they have Kostin and Ryan have scored. How is that being overlooked?

if more than 4 players were actually playing hard no one would be complaining about the refs... Makes no sense, they were showing up at the end of the season. Need to believe in themselves again

I don't know if this year's version of playoff Oilers have it in them honestly. Unless McDrai will them to a victory or the rest of our top 6 decides to show up for a game it's not looking good. Which is a damn shame after the season this team had The worst part is LA isn't even that good of a team, but that's the way playoffs go. You don't have time to be making mistakes every single game. This is the time of year they should have it figured out, but they look worse now than they did during the regular season.
Edmonton is

It's 2-1. Edmonton is carrying the play. Don't quit on this team.

Turned the game off after the RNH penalty. Puck only ended up in the Oilers' end because Yamamoto's stick was slashed out of his hands at the offensive blue line.

I think the Oilers have been full marks for a lot of their stupid penalties but that sequence in OT was embarrassing for the officials. Everybody knew exactly how that was going to go.
