Im going out of my way to say Schneider needs improvement, whether it comes from sitting out one or two or more practice. Honestly Hajek has issues and so does Jones but less so, but Schneider is as much at fault. Way too often he is unable to eliminate his man on the first try on entry in the corner, which inevitably leads to zone pressure and having to follow the man as the play goes to the other side, causing him and Jones/Hajek having to deal with their weak side.

Better to go through this now than in May.

Also nobody pays the price to score a goal. It’s a lot of passing and soft perimeter play. They get shots, but nothing that scares you. Nobody crashes the net or goes for second chance plays.

Also this team has no third line, especially without Chytil.

he wouldn't even sniff our first pp unit. no interest in tanking like the devils do. We got two consensus first overall and 2nd overall picks. It's not like it was the 2022 Wright draft. Right now our brightest star is a defenseman who was selected 22nd overall in 2018 and who knows Othmann may be just as bright. Glad he wasn't rushed.

If you're justifying giving trocheck that contract by saying your only other option was strome then you're acknowledging that the front office had no plan b which is entirely on them. They had months to plan out alternatives and any properly function administrative group always plans contingencies so they aren't bent over at a negotiating table.

Bc early in every season elite skill trumps d structure that hasn't settled in yet. The teams they are playing now are settling into some level of structure and those firewagon BS goals they scored aren't there. They need some meat and potatoes hockey right now with simplified pucks to the net with deflections and rebounds. Build your offense out through simplicity and fundamentals again and then the skill can come back into play. You have to have a base to your game with fundies and effort

2C is a hard position to fill from the outside. They decided to fill it through FA rather than give up assets. Trocheck is a good player and better than Strome. AAV is fine although term may be a bit too long. I guess after 8 games you are already convinced it wasn't the right thing to do. I'm not.

I was convinced before camp bc I've watched him for years and I said as much the day he was signed while the rapid dogs flipped out. The contract was bad when he signed it, my opinion isn't a kneejerk to 8 games. Other teams made center changes so let's not act like it's impossible to do. The org boxed themselves in on this one and gave him term AND a high aav. Not a good mix.
