If they don't make some noise in the playoffs this year he has to go and so does Keefe. Hopefully they can take the Shanahan and the Shanaplan along with them.. whatever that is.. after the idiocy of Babcock, they have overcorrected and are country club. There is no accountability anywhere on this team.

Tons of contracts are coming due the next two years and it they can't get something done this year its time to make major changes.

It depends on the playoffs this year. We have to make it out of the first round and be competitive on the next round.

I mean, this isn't on Dubas... at somepoint its coaching and the Core... we have changed everyone else except the Core over these 7+ years.

The GM picks the coach and he signed the core to those contracts. He could've traded one of the big four, etc ,et c. I can see Dubas signing the same core to large contracts and re-running everything again.

The coach and the core are the responsibility of the GM and if they both suck that is 100% on the GM

I sure everyone loved the deals the leafs made... this team isn't going to be as good int he reg season but should be in the playoffs....

That’s some interesting logic
it is...when the rules change int he playoffs... and you are allowed to jump on peoples backs and slash people int he face... things will change

If you think another GM will be better, i'm not sure what to tell you... grass is always greener on the other side.

Unfortunately 6 years of playoff failure with this core group tells me otherwise

He arrogantly hired said coach without interviewing a single other candidate, and he refuses to trade a core player. 2 of which are now probably untradeable.

So we are stuck.

Did you watch the playoffs last year? We didn't even slash people in the face and they made damn sure we weren't allowed to slash people in the face

Dubas should have gutted this core years ago. Once again, he's done everything to help the team... except address the actual issue. The core players really showed how much they appreciate Dubas going to bat for them tonight with their performance in Edmonton - an all too familiar theme. Trading for bottom 6 forwards and depth defensemen when you have a gutless, passionless, disinterested, overpaid core is like shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. It's amazing to me that after all these years he hasn't figured it out, nor have most of the posters here either.
And now again in Vancouver.

This post is bang on.

He should have been restricted from making any trades. This team is now significantly worse. I look forward to the day this entire front office is purged.
Ahh yes, purge the front office because this is the worst we've had in the last 30 years, isn't it? The grass is always greener on the other side...

Should we never change the front office? Jobs for life? Are we scared of change?

Change for a reason not for the sake of it.... it took yzerman how many years to win a playoff series... they said be was a terrible captain... nows hea one of the beat.... AO8 couldnt get it done neither. Then they won...

I know its frustrating but dubas isnt the problem

I prescribe to the David Poile and Kevin Cheveldayoff school of thought on GM's. It's like buying a car, the less you do it the better off you are. Always thinking long-term.

I’m starting to question my vote to extend!!!
Cause of a regular season.loss after we added 6 players on a long road trip? Weeeeak.

So 10 years of 1st round exits? 15? 20? 35?

What do we think the number should be?
