I love Chewtle, but I get it. I find a lot of the designs to be pretty eccentric, and I think its great. The only one I really dislike is Cinderace.
I warmed up to Cinderace personally. I hate that it wears pants as part of a whole outfit but it's not a whole lot different from Delphox that way. I actually, of the starters, can't stand Inteleon. I get that it's seemingly a tribute to Gex but I just can't stand it's look. The Grookey line has become my favorite, so grass has won out with me two gens in a row.

I don't think it matters much between infiltrator or cursed body. Congrats on the shiny, enjoy it.

Actually now that I think about it, the HA isn't really ideal because Dragapult isn't meant to tank hits. If it got hit and survived a super effective move it would likely be one shot by the next hit anyway so the situations where disabling the super effective move would only leave resistable moves would be an incredibly niche situation.

I guess I just...this is I think the fifth masuda project I've ever done and because of how much easier hidden abilities are to get I wanted to breed my first HA shiny.

But I can certainly settle for it having been 5 ivs. It had a neutral nature but I used a mint to change it before I started evolving. And I just hyper trained out the weaker defense IV.

Definitely my strongest pokemon so far. With that perfect Dreadnaw not far behind.

Yeah, I've not liked a fire starter since Gen 4. I'm not a big fan of Inteleon's standing model, but it looks okay moving. Rillaboom is easily my favourite, sames as Decidueye last gen.

Dragapult can probably run any of it's abilities effectively enough, to be honest. So having the flexibility to switch between Infiltrator and Clear body is nice. Certainly not as bad as when my one shiny Froakie came out Torrent. I did end up getting a Protean one, but the first one was a big letdown. It is nice in this gen that you can at least fix both the IVs and the nature.

So I just finished up the story, the main story in 21 hours play time and the extended story in an extra couple hours.

I'll say I had a blast playing it, I liked the integration of the new stuff while still staying true to the old concepts in previous games. I don't really care too much for the laziness of Game Freak in terms of character models and some bad rendering in wild areas and routes, personally I never really stopped to take note of all the trees and my surroundings too much to complain. I liked the format in place of the elite four, the dynamax was a pleasant surprise, didn't think much of it when it was in the promo material but it's pretty fun.

The only parts where I blatantly stopped and wondered what Game Freak was thinking was some of the story choices. First off, why make Hop the champ's brother, and why give him the type-disadvantage??? Why battle him a gazillion times throughout the story? The "plot-twist" villain near the end has barely any repercussions for his actions aside from getting his butt kicked in a pokemon battle? Like, nearly ended the world but now you beat me in a battle so I'll go on with my day...? Also, not catching the "special" pokemon until after the story ends feels kinda weird, I felt like they needed to flip the two at the end and it would've made a whole lot more sense. I also think it's time for Pokemon to finally invest in voice acting. Now that this game is more than a handheld game, it's time to upgrade the character development, at least in certain cutscenes throughout the game. A lot of the "big" moments in my playthrough felt empty because the writing, although corny, didn't have much to it. I'm not sure if I would've wanted to rip Hop's head off if he actually talked, but I think Pokemon in general could get a big boost with some voice acting and some better character development.

The Wild Area is a game changer, it can definitely be improved upon moving forward, but it's the future of Pokemon games.

Now to complete my dex, do some raids and shiny hunt, add me up if you wanna play.

In my mind I see this generation as the bridge between the old style and hopefully something new. I know that might be optimistic, I just hope game freak sees they have more power at their disposal with the Switch and that they risk some classic themes of the games to bring in new things.

The other day I was asking for favourite new pokemon, now what are your least favourite. I'm thinking Applin may be up there for me...

My current breed project is HA Careful Mareanie if anyone is interested in a breedject. Having the toughest time getting the damn IVs/HA right. Took me almost 100 eggs just to get Careful and Regenerator on the same one. 6 different careful Mareanies triggered the 40% standard ability rate.

When ever I do my first play through of a new gen, I only use new Pokemon. I need a water pokemon in my team, anyone have recommendations. I don't love Drednaw, but he is not my least favourite either.

I guess Drednaw is kind of the main new one, that is unfortunate. I may need to break my own new gen rule and go with an older water Pokemon

Sorry if it’s been discussed at all, but has anyone else had issues with catch rates in this game? My Pokémon will be several levels ahead of wild Pokémon and they won’t stay in the the ball. I’ll have them with a sliver of health and asleep but have to throw 10-15 balls just to maybe catch it.

I found Pokemon broke out more as well, but I'm not sure if there was actually a decrease in the catch rates or not.

I’m on my 2nd gym and I’m just reading these Pokémon on here and think “what the hell is that” can’t wait to find out too.

I got my boy Sirfetch’d.

I think it is so cool that I have 2 badges and just passed a freaking Flygon in the Wild Area. Obviously didn't go for the encounter, but man that is cool!

Yeah I created a new account to have a new play through and I’ve had my same team since before the first gym. It’s Grookey, Ralts, Hitmonlee, Gyrados, Trapinch, and Flareon. Now they’re all level 60 and I’m at the 6th or 7th gym but it’s awesome some of the ones you can get early on.

I got my first 6 IV pokemon drop from a max raid, it's a modest Haxorus. Funnily enough it came from a 4 star raid.

Also got a 4 IV Rapidash, pretty stoked on that.
