We're going to replace Copp with a guy who's the same age but has less than 10 minutes of career NHL ice time...?
That's draft & develop. Helps other teams more so at times. Too bad Mr. Perreault wasn't resigned for an extra year at the sniff of an expansion draft. Oops...
On 2nd thought, it would have burned Jets worse likely, because Seattle would still pick Copp or Lowry and MP would be another year of salary/ cap hit burn.

I'd love to read one compelling argument for running anything other than running your four best centres as centres. The Jets have the wing talent to support it.

This team dominated the opposition in 2017-18 with Lowry at 4C. They have a chance to do it again.

1) Scheifele
2) Dubois
3) Stastny
4) Lowry
my only argument would be back then scheifele was actually dominating like he should be. these days he seems to need help, bad. we all know he wont be separated from wheeler so the only thing i see is putting stastny up there to hopefully snap them out of whatever they've been doing for 2+ years

you could also put copp up there though which might have a similar effect, and keep stastny at C

also, by running lowry as a 4C it may take away minutes from stastny's line, given how much lowry plays wherever he's slotted in the lineup. i might prefer bumping stastny up in the top 6 in that case, for more EV mins

basically i don't have faith that maurice would divide up the ice time properly and it wouldn't address the first line issue which is currently the teams biggest problem besides it's AHL calibre defense of course

I agree - but you can always hope - we have never had this depth at C
Like I said he's already taking about Stastny at LW. even when we acquired Stastny in 17-18 he had little playing some RW. I'd rather just justice up the top9 with Maurice as the coach. Guy had Kevin Hayes on the forth line too.

You are a 100% right that no coach would ever consider such a poor usage of their players.
Yes meanwhile he's throwing Stastny at LW. Lol. Or Stanley Beaulieu over heinola, continues to over play scheifele despite poor results. You're right our coach is infallible and never makes poor usage decisions. Injuries make better roster decisions than Maurice.

Somewhere nice
CSE Has been the best line in the nhl statistically. They're riding high pdo but theyre still dominating the shot and chance share. Idk why they shouldn't be getting lion share of the mins while they're still dominant.

Yes

Thats always been my case.

I was just commenting that your line up is not off.
Just maybe Scheifele where he is at 3RW can be adjusted. And probably so as he is still the undisputed 1C for the Jets even with his warts.

If CSE should not be split up, which i believe you cant for now. Make another top 6 line with Schiefele (without Wheeler) on it and slide Dubois down.

I'd love to see Stastny play between a couple of younger players like Harkins and and Appleton. Even if the minutes dip a bit, I think it would be great for their development.

Worst possible lineup ever, unless you expecting a Stanley Cup win!h
If you really looked at that line up.
Only Schiefele is off where he should be.
Maybe Copp out of the top line?

Yah, but Scheifele could become the Golden Sniper on the wing. Being fed by PLD and Connor, or Connor finishing on kick out passes or PLD cleaning up a rebound on a Scheifele sniper! Probably never happen, hey!

Maurice won't play the 4th line even with Lowry on it I think. Just don't think he trusts the kids on the wings

Lowry and Perrault, notably Lowry, have been producing offense like its 2017 again. Could be a good mix with Wheeler rather than Wheeler riding with two defensively inept players in Connor and Scheifele.

However, if history dictates, Lowry's "cement hands" will over take him from scoring much all sesaon and MP will forget his former skills, give pucks away and get stupid penalties late in close games. Keeping it positive eh.

Yep. Hope it lines out like this.

Scheifele is never going to average 45 seconds shifts esp due to the PP and being doubleshifted on PP2 at times and that's fine. He just needs to get down to the low 50s and I think he will, his shift lengths thus far this season are anomalies esp since if you look at Wheeler's shift lengths they are much more reasonable so it is not a directive from the coaching staff to that line to stay out there longer.

This is my problem with Scheifele for a while. He clearly chooses to take longer shifts himself as there is no repercussion from the coaching staff when he extends the shifts. Wheels seems to be trying to keep them short, but Scheif on multiple occasions where his linemates have already shifted off, has stayed out and messed up the rotation. He'll even do it skating within 10 feet of the bench so it's not like he's stuck out there. What it screams to me is the kid who thinks they are better than everyone else and they should decide when and how much they play. I'm getting worried that Scheif is no longer the person Ducky tried to build him up to be.

If a C has to move to the wing, Scheifele is the last one I move.
could be a kick in the ass for him to play at a higher level. he's had almost 0 Competition for 1C for years. idk if i want to disrupt the chemistry of CSE right now but ultimately i expect that to be what's changed, and not CSW.

I wonder if Maurice simply sat down and had a non-threatening chat with Scheiffele about his on ice efforts and defensive responsibilities?
I doubt anything like that has ever happened. The coach might want to start there? Like...be a coach???

Look at AV. Scratched Konecny, one of their top players in Philly. I am not an advocate of scratching Scheifele it inherently makes your lineup worse, but shit you gotta do something significant to change his habits. perhaps the in-house stats and analytics say everything is ok with him :sarcasm:

I agree. The scary thought is that this change in Scheif’s play was noticeable in the start of the 2018 season. This is long term, but I am hopeful that if the coach does his job and actually works with Scheif, there is hope for Scheif to return to his hungry style of play.

This has probably been asked a hundred times, but I will ask again.

When are we going to get to see PLD on the Jets?

I don't think we'll be given an "exact date" but it will be approximately 2 weeks after he arrived in Winnipeg, to meet the Covid rules. Probably in another 7 days or so, I expect we'll see him in the lineup. Likley around Feb 7 / 2021 or in around that time, I would think. Be patient.

I'm looking forward to what kind of talent he'll bring to the Jets.

Once the current Statsny line cools down:

Copp-Dubois-Ehlers
Connor-Scheifele-Harkins
Perreault-Statsny-Wheeler
Appleton-Lowry-Lewis

Easy.

I'd like to see something like this, primarily to send a message to Scheifele and Wheeler, that their play is just not acceptable right now, and see what happens.

The MB government cleared him for the 8 day thing, but they're still waiting to hear from the federal government. So yeah, you're probably right about another week yet.
