I don't have anything against Kekalainen's comments post-trade, he was clearly baited and has the right to defend himself and his approach to contract negotiations. Torts behavior on the other hand is perplexing. Not sure what he expects to gain even if he is right about all the things that he is saying.

Brisson defending his client like he should. Torts behavior is childish and the fact that its been over a week and he's still going on about it is ridiculous. Any wonder that players don't want to stay in that type of environment?
Can you imagine being at your job and the boss tells his supervisors to stop talking to you?:help: Although in some cases that might not be a bad thing. Screaming at a player like this in front of everyone is just bad coaching in my book.

Like I said a few pages ago, both Tortorella and JK are experiencing buyers remorse.

If they truly believed they got the best player for their team they wouldn't need to spout off about it.

They'd just shut up and get to work.

Instead, they keep harping on it as if they're trying to "sell" the trade not only to their fans and players, but, to themselves.

PLD doing interviews and being all smiles about getting out of Columbus and getting a chance to play in WPG is probably what is stirring up all the aminosity.
What makes it worse is that Laine hasn't acted the same way towards Columbus and they already know that keeping Laine long term is going to be impossible.

Just to start:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp--Stastny-Ehlers
PLD-Lowry-Appleton
Perreault-Harkins-Lewis

. Subsequent possibilities:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp--PLD-Ehlers
Lowry-Stastny-Appleton
Perreault-Harkins-Lewis

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp--PLD-Ehlers
Harkins-Stastny-Appleton
Perreault-Lowry--Lewis

Long-term prediction (by end of season):

Connor-PLD-Wheeler
Copp--Scheifele-Ehlers
Harkins-Stastny-Appleton
Perreault-Lowry--Lewis
Hey, I no you suggest a little more realistic (hopeful) down tgevroad but...PLD is Centerman! I am sure he can play wing fine here & there, but yo start him as a winger, when all this franchise has needed since Little's setbacks and demise, is a 2C. Chevy trades away one of the possible greater goal scorers of this new decade for a top young Center only to suggest putting your new shiny toy ( who is costing exactly ssme $ as Laine for this season) on the wing, 3rd line yet?? Head-shake needed buddy! It is bad eniugh that this rosters true RW 's depth is in trouble as just filling all 4 lines requires moving a lhs LW or C over to the RW, after this trade.
Sending Roslovic with Laine for only 1 roster player and a "future?"depletes our true RW's with near zero in the pipeline. This is why I thought it imperative in moving Roslovic that a roster player comes back ( should gave asked for Emil Bemstrom-21 yr old, rhs, RW, 4th round pick 2017/ or Kevin Stenlund,24 yr old, rhs, RW, 2nd riunder 2015). Yes, Jets have been winning more than not without Laine & Roslo anyways. But how long will this persist if a) injuries hit; b) let down of current lhs LW's playing well on the right-side; c) Captain Wheels hitting an age-relative setback/ slow-down.
PLD needs to start at Center, his known skillset valuable position ( in all aspects of the game - 200'ft play). Mix & match wingers as needed between all 4 Centers:
1. 55-MS, 2. PLD-13, 3. PS, 4. AL?
Anything short starting here (or close to) is Insanity.

I'm only suggesting you start him at wing to ease him into the lineup. im not suggesting he will play wing regularly. 2nd line is hot right now. And I doubt he bumps Scheifele 1st game in

This is true. Having watched Laine since he got to Winnipeg, he seems very mediocre to going to Columbus. He is saying the canned things that players say when they are going somewhere that they don't want to be. Unless something miraculous happens, he'll probably sign a contract to UFA and be gone.

That kind of sucks because I like Columbus. They're one of the few teams in the league I can stand and I even cheer for them at times. Likeable players, except Jones, and good down to earth fans.

Unless he really hits it off with Torts and some of the players on CBJ and scores well while there I think he likely won't stick around.

Gotcha. I get it to not replace him & Scheifele 1st game! But PLD is a Center. Useless useage to put him on the wing to try to ease in? He is not a rookie and has done training camp and played in 5 games this young season.
More of a concern should be that our RWs who shoot rh has been depleted. If keeping the same Centers as status quo currently, I suggest moving scheifele to RW on 1st line with PLD at Center and KC on LW. Reduce their minutes or matchups if PLD struggling to adjust.
Keeping Copp-Stats- Ehlers together playing even more crucial minutes while they are red-hot. Wheels can boost a 3rd line with youngsters Harkins and Gus, 4th can be combos of AL and MP, TL, MA, Kv, or?
Svheifele is slagging it lately, last 2 games, missing defensive and neutral zone reads, being beat to pucks in own zone, no zig-zag puck control, razzle-dazzle and opening up Connor or Wheels regularly. Make him feel the heat of a new guy to push him for a few games.
That is my take and serious consideration, if I were PoMo. Chevy has said PLD's icetime, role, and line-mates is PoMo's decision!

Listen.

We're a lot like Columbus in some ways. There is a lot of reasons to want to leave the market for brighter lights or greener pastures.

For that reason, I think TNSE has gone out of their way to create a culture for players to want to stay here - based on the type of PEOPLE they want to keep.

Things like loyalty, hard work, and family mean something here.

I know nothing about Columbus and their culture, but maybe they're not doing the same thing, or at least with the same end in mind

I'd like to see a line of:

Connor-PLD-Ehlers.

To me, that is a full on Young Guns line that would be a lot of fun to watch.

Put Stastny-Scheifele-Wheeler together.

A powerful top-6 for sure. A little unfair to Andrew Copp to be set backwards when he is showing aptitude and scoring ability with more skilled players. We would be right back to 2 lines to play most offensive opportunity times and a shutdown and a 4th line of rookies, filling the bench. Lots of possibilities.

this would be the best case scenario given the illogical way maurice plays his lines

funny how that's totally acceptable in professional sports, but if it happened in the office it would be a major personal harassment case.

Kessel didn't fit with the Penguins and was ultimately moved.

Everywhere has a culture. Hockey teams, businesses, book clubs. Some are more rigid than others, but its definitely a thing and there are a lot of successful franchises with this mentality.
What!? Kessel played 4 full seasons with the Pens and won 2 Stanley Cups! Everyone loved him there except Sullivan.

Laine played 4 full seasons with the Jets. There are several instances of Kessel and Malkin quite visibly arguing on the bench.

If the Jets won a Stanley Cup in the past 4 years, would we be complaining that Wheeler's leadership style is flawed, etc etc etc? Probably not.

Give him the ice time. He’s earned it, he’s one of our best 2 way players and is in his contract year. I don’t want a repeat of his last contract talks
With the forward talent we have and the fact that there just isn’t room for all of them in the top 6, the Jets should really be looking at a top 9 scenario instead. However that is put together.

1a, 1b, 2, 3 would be awesome.
