I remember. It came together with the Stastny trade. For much of the season though it was a 2nd line of Ehlers-Little-Laine, and a 3rd of Tanev-Lowry-Copp/Armia. Roslovic and Perreault rose up the ranks, to form a 3rd line with Little, and Copp centred the big guns, which relegate Lowry. I don't think we have the same push from our bottom right now, but that could change I suppose. More inclined to believe that Perreault and Lewis are going to have their minutes limited.

I just wonder if those promoting 4 rolled out lines will be even more angry when Ehlers ice time drops below 15 minutes, to account for extra 4th line minutes? Because Lowry as a 4th line centre wouldn't get 6-8 minutes.

Yeah a lot is going to be contingent on how well PLD fits in, game situations. I almost wouldn't expect us to go to 4 strong lines until we are closer to playoffs if we are in or fighting for a spot. Give top guys ice time early and then go into lockdown mode.

Really the only thing Laine has on PLD is his shot. Which is a big advantage but the other areas of PLD's game are a lot better. Better skater, more physical, meaner, stronger, better defensively, better at shielding the puck and more deadly in tight because he actually goes to those areas. He's also healthier. Hasn't missed a single game due to injury going back to his Midget AAA days. He's also more physically fit and takes training and fitness seriously. Yeah sure he doesn't have 50 goal potential, who cares. Kid has potential to be a 1C at the NHL level and is almost already there.
Well that’s sure encouraging to hear.

It's hilarious, and necessary comic relief!

Ever wonder what our posters look like? Don't know about the rest of you but I am convinced Sipowicz looks exactly like...Sipowicz
It's funny how you get a picture of posters in your head after a while. I was convinced that Sip looked like Sip and @SUX2BU is really Bill Murray for example.

If what we have heard is to he believed it seems to me that Torts did a nice bit of psychological warfare right off the bat with PLD in an effort to galvanize his group. It looks like he singled out PLD to create an "your in or your outmentality" in the room. This in turn likely alienated Dubois amongst the coaches and his teammates. It would also help explain his performance as well as his coaches and teammates attitude towards him leaving when talking to the press.

Yeah I really believe this is what happened.

Telling the coaches not to talk to him, demanding he says why he wants out. Scummy move by Torts and I don't blame PLD for being bitter.

I think we see PLD getting about 60-65 points a year and eventually getting to play against some of the top lines from other teams.
I love that he has a mean streak and shows up in the playoffs. I was hoping we see TO in the playoffs but now I'd kill to see us play them.
Playing Calgary will be a bit more niteresting with Stanley and PLD in the lineup.
Maurice better play Stastny centering the 3rd line.
We are getting to be a better looking playoff team.
the jets didnt get stastny or dubois to play on the 3rd line copp is hot a little but will be reunited with lowry. and for sure lowry isnt going to the 4th line. copp will go back to playing with lowry on the 3rd line where he belongs.

That being said. I don’t believe the Jet’s thought they were ever going to get Dubois when they acquired Stastny. The type of center deapth the Jet’s now have is the type you win cups with. 4 strong centres. I don’t think any of them cared which line they are on if it gets them a cup.

PLD will play 2C with ehlers on his right and I have a feeling POMO will give both stats and copp a look on the left.

I'm thinking that reuniting copp and lowry gives pomo a chubby.

Connor schief wheels
Stats PLD Ehlers
copp lowry frenchie
Harkins gus apples/Lewis
Ves Thompson

That third line can take d-zone starts vs other teams top lines.

Somewhere nice
Copp mentioned couple times he wants to play higher up the line up. He is getting it now. Probably enjoying it.

Need to consider that also.

I’d rather see something like...

Copp - PLD - Ehlers
Vesa - Stastny - Appleton
Harkins - Lowry - Lewis

It always starts with leadership and culture, and the younger players need to buy into the vision. The door is open for those who do, and I have every reason to believe PLD will walk right in. I do not believe Laine ever did, and that left Ehlers in a very difficult position. He can now stop looking back over his shoulder, which will help him fully integrate.

From today's WFP:
No floaters on Jets
"The club has skill up and down a deep lineup, but what I see more than anything is a group all pulling in the same direction — and much of the credit for that needs to be given to the current leadership group.
If you're wondering what the team's "identity" is, look no further than the values and beliefs of head coach Paul Maurice, captain Blake Wheeler and alternate captains Mark Scheifele and Josh Morrissey. Not to mention Andrew Copp, Nik Ehlers, Adam Lowry, Mathieu Perreault — yes, him too — and many others. In fact, all others — now....

And if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. Goodbye Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic.

Maurice was uber-transparent about his team's makeup on Monday when our Jeff Hamilton asked him — in light of all the commotion around why Laine wanted out of Winnipeg — what a young player can do to endear himself to the head coach:

"Just be a good teammate... One of the critical pieces to being a young player is just kind of coming in and fitting into that room. So your room has a culture and a character and so does your team, a style of play....As the coach, you’ve picked your leaders. You’ve looked at the men in your room and thought these are the people we would like to have our young players emulate — how they train, how they train on their off days, how they approach the game.......You’ve got young guys that come in and will look at your top-end guys and say, ‘I’m going to play like them, I’m going to practise like them’ and they immediately get absorbed into the group."

Translation: like it or lump it, things are going to be done the PoMo/Wheeler/Scheifele way — or hit the highway"

I prefer that too, but I don't think lowry gets pushed down to 4C minutes.

The way frenchie has been playing, he'll be in the line up (justifiably). And vesa hasn't shown anything to warrant him being above anyone yet.

I think we'll run something similar to what you posted in the playoffs (if we end up there).

I suspect this is what PMO will do or very similar.

This is what I wish PMO would do, more roll three lines a bit more balanced time with the 4th line getting about 10-11 mins. Ves I think plays only RW IIRC, but I could be wrong maybe he plays both wings.

Perhaps a 3rd line of Stastny/Lowry/Perreault. Push Stastny to the wing so Lowry doesnt drop to 4C. I think i could get behind this line.

Connor/Scheifele/Wheeler
Copp/PLD/Ehlers
Stastny/Lowry/Perreault
Lewis/Harkins/Appleton

Those 4 lines got me feeling

Yup good article and fair opinion and I suspect an accurate one based on actual events & results & interviews. Some people might not love the approach, but I'm fine with it as a fan and as a employee in any company I've worked in. There is a small room for individualism but here are the two white lines you must stay within or else.......I like that kind of structure as a employee. Set clear expectations and how everyone to it as far as work, dedication, effort, training, etc.......obviously results will very based on talent levels. But I also with both Laine & Jack all the best in CBJ, both good kids.

Agreed.

I think the "culture" that TNSE has created isn't an accident.

We aren't the type of place that will attract the best talent. We'll never win like that. There needs to be hard work and buy-in from everyone.

I also think that many fans really only pay attention to the Jets, and may not realize that these kind of attitudes (young players coming in, emulating the older leaders) are on basically every team. The top guys set the pace of the team.
