Honestly the value of the return is essentially Vilardi and a 2nd. That seems fair for Dubois. A guy like Iafallo is useful but given his cap hit would be worth a 3rd on the market given how valuable cap space is. The Kings also needed to clear it and we are eating two years. Kupri is a throw in with negligible value.

I dunno. Depending on who else is going with PLD, iafallo and Kupari are upgrades over some of the trash we trotted out there last year. Vilardi is a step down from Dubois. Does it all wash out? If so, chevy did an OK job in a tough spot

I am very interested to see how PLD performs in LA. Throughout his entire career he has always played with an elite scoring winger... Panarin in Columbus and then Ehlers/Connor in Winnipeg. He has never been "THE Guy" on his line.

In LA he will have to be that, Fiala is the closest they have to an elite winger, and while he's a good player, he is no Panarin/Connor/Ehlers and tends to run hot and cold (and no guarantee he would even play with Fiala).

I will esp be keeping a close eye on his 5v5 scoring which has been pretty meh. He has been feasting on the PP for the last couple of years, PP scoring is more likely to see a dip or a steep ride when switching teams.

Oh I'm happy with all the pieces involved, the market right now doesn't rate players like Iafallo highly though so Chevy seemed to get the better of it.

I wonder why Wiebe was reporting Harkins being involved and where he was getting it from.

Also I feel like a lot of the sentiment that LA is getting raked over the coals in the deal is from overzealous Montreal fans poisoning the well of information on Dubois. Just completely drowning out any reasonable takes on his value. As a Jets fan I'd have been fine with 8.5AAV over 8 years for Dubois.
