If we continue to deploy a lineup set in stone that consists of a top 6, 3rd line that scores like a 4th line, and 4th line that is vaguely an energy line I don't really imagine us improving.

Agree for sure that the team has to modernize its notion of what Jets hockey might be with the talent they once had and focus on optimizing the talent they do have -- more of the right pegs in the right spots, as it were.

But a team that's retained some high-end talent and become harder to play against in all zones should make for some positive steps forward.

I'm excited, pending the pieces we've given away.

A guy like Iafallo should help our bottom 6 in that regard. We need one more two/way third liner so that Appelton cab be pushed to the 4th.

Yeah, I'm also mildly concerned with how our skaters will perform without Hellebuyck as a crutch that they've leaned on for so long.

Hopefully it forces them to play a different way but short term I can see it affecting the team very negatively.

I am very interested to see how PLD performs in LA. Throughout his entire career he has always played with an elite scoring winger... Panarin in Columbus and then Ehlers/Connor in Winnipeg. He has never been "THE Guy" on his line.

In LA he will have to be that, Fiala is the closest they have to an elite winger, and while he's a good player, he is no Panarin/Connor/Ehlers and tends to run hot and cold (and no guarantee he would even play with Fiala).

I will esp be keeping a close eye on his 5v5 scoring which has been pretty meh. He has been feasting on the PP for the last couple of years, PP scoring is more likely to see a dip or a steep ride when switching teams.
You have forgot about Kempe

Chevy, you have worked your magic again. Never leave Winnipeg. You are one of the best GM's in the league.
I'm itching to find out what we are sending back with PLD. I have a strong feeling we're going to be disappointed. That return is way too much for PLD and Harkins.

I mean if it was a big name prospect we would have heard about it imo. But anything can happen.

Yep.

Helle-Crutch.

That's one tired crutch.

I'm not as concerned. The teams defense was top half last year and is likely better this year with moving out some of our one dimensional forwards and replacing them with better defensive ones. I think if we get league average goaltending we will be ok.

My main concern is if this team will be able to score with the talent likely leaving upfront.

Agreed. Hoping it's Stanley as well.

Would imagine it's very unlikely that Salomonsson is involved due to the org's complete lack of RHD and the abundance for the Kings.

I keep praying the size and LHD of Mr. Stanley will entice Blake to just get this deal done and across the finish line.
Save Heinola for a package with Scheifele. No loss.

You are likely correct. Just feels off to me with so much coming back.

Honestly the value of the return is essentially Vilardi and a 2nd. That seems fair for Dubois. A guy like Iafallo is useful but given his cap hit would be worth a 3rd on the market given how valuable cap space is. The Kings also needed to clear it and we are eating two years. Kupri is a throw in with negligible value.

Yep.

"A boatload" doesn't always mean a boat full of the good stuff.

Sometimes the boat's carrying junk..

I disagree about Kupari, if he gets a bigger role here he should do well. He was buried on a much deeper Kings team.

It's not junk bit it's pieces we need but have limited market value in a flat cap environment.

Maybe but given what he's shown to date his market value is likely low. But I defitwly hope he can ascend to the third line at some point.

Depth players like iafallo are basically worth next to nothing in trades right now.

Kupari you can find similar players on the waiver wire each year.

Not to shit on them bc I think Iafallo has solid on ice value. But cap and market squeezing his types out

Now move on to signing Vilardi
