We are 10th best GA under Keefe.
But a more honest stat, GA/G puts us at 18th.

We were 24th GA/G under Babs

We improved. But we need to improve some more.
I wonder how much last week really hurt the numbers

If you remove those 6 games from Jan 6th to Jan 18th. Our GAA is at 2.52.
Of course it's not fair to remove bad stretches, but those 6 games really hurt our GA.

I like to look at stats like 5 on 5 CA/60, SCA/60, xGA/60, and HDCA/60. GA can be affected by bad goaltending, lucky goals, etc...

CA/60: 56.04(16th)
xGA/60: 2.33(18th)
SCA/60: 27.61(20th)
HDCA/60: 10.75(16th)

Pretty much average across the board. I think this team can still be better then that.

Not only have we been better defensively under Keefe, we've also had a few very key injuries on the backend that Babcock didn't have to deal with. Our PK has also been way better.

What's our goaltending done over that time frame?

I know Hutchinson has been miles better but I think Andersen may have dropped off a bit over that period

Under Keefe we're 21st in the league in sv% at 5 on 5.

Under Babcock we were 22nd. So very little difference.

Can't be too hard on the goalies though, we definitely surrender a lot of HDSC's. Our goalies are never going to kill it in raw SV%.

Was just gonna post this. Lol. Would be such a nice gift to see them somehow miss the playoffs. If only somehow the Oilers start to slip too. Calling those fan bases toxic is a compliment.
The Oilers fans can be annoying if someone mentions Matthews and McDavid in the same sentence and they act like how dare we do something like that. However the way the Islanders fans reacted towards Tavares was the craziest thing I ever seen. He wasn't the first big name free agent to leave and sign somewhere else in any sport. For example I don't know how many Islanders fans are Yankees fans and I guess they don't mind when someone like Gerrit Cole signed with them as a free agent, since he was a Yankees fan growing up. Plus he was at a Yankees World Series game in 2001 with a sign that said how he was a sign that said "Yankee fan today, tomorrow, forever" and how that's any different than Tavares tweeting that picture of himself in those Maple Leafs bed sheets?

Hutchinson was brutal under Babcock which had to pull down that sv% number a decent amount

He's been really good under Keefe so if anything he has to be pulling the sv% up

I would imagine that if we can get Babcock Andersen levels of goaltending our sv% should get a decent boost upward

Considering Leafs under Keefe are also generating more chances and taking more risks, I think Keefe has improve the Leafs D a lot more than the stats.
Having said that, the only stats that matters to me is the W-L-T-PTs. Sofar, Keefe is miles ahead of Babs.

The Matthews Vs McDavid is only trolls try to get Leafs Nation into a fight. Maybe two yrs ago, we could compare those two, but I don’t think anyone would think Matthews is close to McDavid. McDavid is miles ahead of everyone in the NHL at this moment. Playoffs Hockey is another story.

As for the Islanders fans toward JT. I think the team itself had a lot to do with it. As I don’t think they did a tribute when JT first game back, or I could be wrong. On top of that, I don’t think any players stood out and defend JT or at the very least say stuff like he deserves better than this due to what he did with the Islanders.... I just think the Islanders higher ups just want a marketing idea to rally their fans.

The Islanders did do a tribute video for Tavares in his first game on the road against them, however their fans just kept booing during the whole thing.

Also I do remember Anders Lee talking about loyalty and what it meant for him to be their new captain after Tavares and that was a shot at him, which is funny considering how close he came to leaving them last July when he was a UFA.

Plus Barry Trotz talked about how Tavares left when they first played each other in Toronto last season, which is funny since Trotz quit as the head coach in Washington because they wouldn't pay him more money.

Exactly. I just think the Islanders MGT thought it was a good idea to take shot at JT to connect with fans. All the while forgetting about the potential to sign future UFAs on good deals.

We will make playoffs, but it's kinda bumming me out we will likely play Tampa, Boston, or Washington again in the first round without home game advantage.

I don't think we are mature enough to beat those seasoned teams.

Hope I'm wrong.

GLG!!!

Would be nice to play against Ovie, then beat Sid, then beat Boston and finally the Blues to win the Cup. That’s beating the last four SC champs.

Last year even without home ice they were up 3-2 against Boston going back to Toronto for Game 1 and leading 1-0 in the 1st period. If it wasn't for their penalty kill allowing back to back power play goals chances are they win that series.

Last Four SC Champs, Sid won twice, then Ovie got one and the Blues won the last one.

I'm with you. Just trippy wording. The teams that won the last 4 Cups, plus personal rival Bruins. I'd say that's a storybook path to the Cup.

I'd rather we just skip Boston, altogether. But beating them would be better than beating any other Eastern team.
