Scott Gomez was a fine player (750 points in 1000 career games) and a fantastic playmaker, but he never hit 20 goals his entire career and then exploded for 33 goals in 05/06 and then never hit 20 again.

And then had a whole friggin website based on his inability to score. Respect for playing through that?

I don’t understand what happened here.

He managed to keep it together somehow for 1 full season but otherwise he was completely off the rails. Went to prison for cocaine trafficking after his career and died young in a car crash.

Thomas Vanek. He put up 40 goals in both his 2nd and 4th year into his career and wasn't able to replicate it after that. Spends 9 years in Buffalo and then plays on 7 teams in the last 9 years of his career. Nobody wanted the guy long term.

Fun fact, Nick Foligno was once tied for 10th in the NHL in scoring. The only Jacket ever to do it.

Justin Holl had a similar thing happen, he had two goals in his first two games for the Leafs meaning that it would've taken him 9 years to break Gretzky's record at that pace. He then had 9 goals in his next 320 games meaning that it would take him roughly 400 nhl seasons to break Gretzky's record

Nik Ehlers.

he was a 65 point player at a very young age, but than as the years went by, was pretty much a 60 point player his career. Not that its bad or anything. He was touted to be better than Nylander, but Nylanders stats sky rocketed, Ehlers kinda was statemented.

Depends if Edmonton keeps the first line intact. If they do, he will certainly get a lot of goals playing with the best playmaker of this generation.
McDavid's shot was off all year which is why he dropped off from 65 goals to 32.

McD Nuge Hyman will score around 100 goals. You can divide that up among them at random.

Thanks for the info, captain obvious.

Whether he's scoring goals or not, McDavid is always close to 1 assist per game. Because of this, and if they keep the McD-Hyman-Nuge line intact, Hyman will get a lot of goals.

I mean a big reason Hyman got a lot of those goals was more coverage on RNH on the PP.

IF nuge gets closer to 30, I could see Hyman dropping back down to 30 as well. If McDavid pops off 50 I could see them both dropping down to 25 each.

Not many in Oiler nation believe Hyman will repeat at 50.
Just like we didn't think Nuge would hit 100 again.

Hyman had 39 EV goals last season. More than 2/3 of his goal production.

Like I said, if the line is kept together, he'll score a lot of goals, simply because of the dynamics of the line itself.

McDavid also had most of his goals at EV (25). If he does get an increase, in his case it will probably come from the PP.

I never said 50 though.
