I was coming in here to say Hodgson, but oh well.

I was so sure at the time that Brayden Schenn was going to be a star. Great U20 performance, goes PPG in the AHL in a short stint, puts up 12pts in 7 games in the AHL the next season...what the hell happened to the guy?

True that. There was a time when he was considered the best prospect in the NHL.

Robin Figren...7pts in 6 games in '08. I believe the all-knowing Pierre McGuire called him an "offensive dynamo". bang on assessment, Pierre.

Tokarski sticks out, mostly for this

Alot of Canadian goalies have had solid tournies but not gone on to good NHL careers

Lots of good ones mentioned already. I'll throw Kitsyn into the mix - 6'3" and put up 5 goals, 9 points in 7 games on the way to Russian gold, there was lots of hype about Tarasenko, Kuznetsov and Kitsyn after that tourney, but Kitsyn has not gone anywhere. He wasn't seen as a future superstar or anything, but lots of people were talking about him being a very good NHL prospect, and really he's not even an AHLer, has been toiling in the ECHL. Interestingly, Panarin generated very little excitement on that same team, but is turning out great!

Ryan Parent always sticks out to me too

I remember a Staal-Parent shutdown duo
Yeah, I think that the great shutdown dmen in the WJCs, and junior leagues in general, are often NHL busts. The great NHL shutdown dmen tend to be pretty dominant offensively at the junior level, then settle into a more defensive role in the NHL. If you're already settling into a defensive role at the junior level, you're probably just not talented enough to do much of anything in the NHL.

*cough* Luke Schenn *cough*

Some various players that made the WJC all tournament team:

1990 - Dave Chyzowski
1992 - Peter Ferraro
1996 - Nolan Baumgartner
1997 - Christian Dube
1998/99 - Maxim Balmochnykh
1999 - Daniel Tkaczuk
2002 - Igor Knyazev

Tried to go with names that were also higher draft picks.
