Filatov is up there for me, top 10 draft pick... Great wjc in that 09 vs Canada. He now got suspended in vhl russian 2nd league for arguing with a ref. Even had a Hatty in nhl..

Have we written off Jack Campbell yet?

He's down in the ECHL now, and had someone called up over him. I think it's curtains for him.

Marek Schwarz had a good tournament in 2005, 1st round pick, etc. Just had nothing after that.

Can't believe about Campbell, wow, I remember the hype around him. And Hodgson - he actually was really good. How is Ryan Ellis? I remember Pierre McGuire loved him when he was an underager, did he turnout good?

On the other hand, remember some dude named Panarin who barely made team russia in 2011?

Good one - he looked like a star for the Czechs.

Not 'massive disappointment' but Brayden Schenn.

I'd go with this too. He looked like a sure fire 1-2 NHL center. I'll never forget that look on Brian Burkes face when nobody would let him trade up to select him, right before the Kings did.

He's still a decent player but I would definitely consider him a "massive disappointment". I remember in 2011, the Sharks were going into the first round against LA and Kopitar had been injured, and I was WORRIED that the Kings would call up Schenn from the WHL somehow to be their #1C for the series. The expectations for Schenn were HUGE. Anything other than 'star' is a pretty big disappointment for him IMO.

Does Ryan Ellis count? 25 points in 19 games as a dman.

Dman of the tournament in 2011.

No way. I consider him a #3D right now.

There are a ton of them.

The dominant Swedish top line when they won the gold hasn't done much in the NHL. None of them have completely failed after the tournament though. Friberg lead the tournament in goals but isn't more than a decent AHL'er today. Sundström has broken out this year in the SHL but he will never play in the NHL. Larsson is the best of the three and maybe he can become more than just a fringe NHL'er.

The scrapegoat of that team was John Klingberg.

Justin Pogge, Chris DiDomenico, Carlo Colaiacovo, Jerry D'Amigo, Insert Leaf's prospect here

A few guys from Canada that I thought could've carved out a role on a bottom line:
Anthony Camara
Patrice Cormier
Stefan Della Rovere
Brett Sonne

No first rounders there though, so can't really put them up with top10 pick Pääjärvi.

Pääjärvi also proved himself in the men's WC before hitting NHL ice. There's a case to be made that his 18 yo version was better than his current 24 yo state, and he's not been injured much.

A bit too early maybe but Teräväinen.
