Ummmm, Miami...Columbus, uh Miami...Columbus...

When my daughter went off to college she had partial scholarship offers from two schools. One was Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, and the other was at the University of San Diego. Bet you can guess which one she chose.

lol... and the whole tax thing helps to... as a player though, if they continue to win and say they win it all(they remind me of our '12 Kings no less) do they actually leave??

Kadri will get moved and will be a solid 2C, good 2 way C, with some attitude and would fit well on Kings. He won't be the only Leaf moving. I can't see them affording Marner, not for the 11-12 he wants. ANd then there's Kapanen...

Nylander will get dealt this summer for a defenseman.

Basically. Unless someone comes along and surprises people. Pretty much what happened with Hickey and Muzzin. And they certainly can't waste the pick this year. They have to get a player. Doesn't have to be the best in the draft, but he has to be a top contributor on the team. Especially if Vilardi is a bust.

Hoping he can make it because in what has been limited action the last 2 seasons he has literally looked NHL ready! Other than speed, he is literally Above Average to Elite across the board.

Winning a Stanley Cup may change some hearts and minds. Eight years is a long time though. I don't think anyone should be giving Bob and Bread Man 8-year contracts though.

Oh K17... you know better than that!! theres always some idiot willing to do it.. I do agree that I wouldn't.. The NHL needs a 4 year max like the NBA.
Just curious, say the do leave and they need a goalie.. how would Quickie fare with that defense in front of him?

I think Quick thrives on the big stage and in the pressure moments. I think he can get stale when there is nothing to play for. If I had a big game and it was for all the marbles, Quick would be a guy that gets to be in the conversation. If he were on a team like Calgary, or any top team for that matter, I believe that he would do well. He will always have his moments and stints of junk play but he seems to just get up for the moment and can carry a team for long periods of time.

I think some of you would be surprised by Forbort's trade value.

He has a pedigree.

Came out of highly regarded programs in USNTDP and UND. Team USA WJC member. He has the measurables that many hockey people still love (yes some people still value size and defensive dmen). Was a 1st round draft pick. Is only 27 and signed to a very low cap hit. Been playing 20 minutes a night for 3 straight seasons on a couple of excellent defensive teams.

Perfect, we can use that to inflate his value so some team can take him off our hands.

While I tend to agree with this statement, I think this wasn't the case for the 2014 cup run. The Kings were outscoring other teams rather than stifling them.

Quick and the defense were some of the reasons why we were usually on the brink of elimination. Luckily our offense was rolling..

You left out how much she likes cheese.

I am thinking one of the 2 could be dealt in Forbort / Martinez, both LHD. Lots of young LHD on the cusp of making it: Clague, Brickley, and Mikey Anderson,
if he signs. And MacDermid can be in the mix as well. RHD vying for jobs: Walker, Roy, Ladue.

AMart has value. He could get us a 2nd and perhaps a late 1st if a team that was in the playoffs felt that they needed him and could plug and play with him immediately.

Quick would probably play better with Columbus. I think the key for Quick is still going to be coming out to the top of his crease and maybe even beyond to challenge shooters. He needs a defense that understands that and covers the back door for him. I don't think Quick plays as well with a defense that tries to block a lot of shots. When Quick is on his game he will cut down the angle and make the save if he can see the shot. The defense needs to make sure they are letting him see the shooter and that they clear any rebounds.

This would be an adjustment for almost any team's defense. Don't know if Quick has the athleticism to scrabble back to his crease to make the 2nd and 3rd save though like he used to do back as recently as the 2018 playoffs.

Not saying they're equals but should Panarin and Bob leave... how attractive would Quick and Toffoli be to CBJ especially if we retain a nice chunk of change on both? a 1st in 2020 plus maybe or can we do better by holding on and hoping for a team wide rebound? BTW, I do think the team will compete for if not make the playoffs next season.. one last hurrah

I don't think the Kings can get a 1st round pick for Quick and Toffoli. It would be stealing if Blake can pull that off. Also not sure if Columbus would have a lot of interest in Toffoli, but they may be desperate if they can't re-sign both Panarin and Duchene. When it comes to Quick, Columbus has a 24-year old goalie in Joonas Korpisalo, so if they lose both UFA forwards, I could see them just going with the young guy in goal.

The Kings may compete for a playoff spot next season, but you have to expect Calgary and Vegas will be back next season, and I think Arizona, Vancouver, and Edmonton will be right there as well vying for third in the division. The Pacific Division isn't very good, so maybe there is a chance. I think the Avs have a real shot at winning the Pacific Division playoff and facing the Jets or Predators in the Western Conference Final this year.

Did the San Jose Sharks disband as a team today?

Would agree with you regarding TT.

If you look at their forward group, even if/when Panarin leaves, is TT better than any of the wingers that would project to be in the top 6 next year? I would doubt it.

Atkinson
Bjorkstrand
Dzingel (UFA at season's end but indications are he will resign, played college hockey at Ohio St.)
Anderson

I'm not acquring him to be in my bottom 6 so I wouldn't see the need there from the Jackets.

TT’s value isn’t going to drop more. He’s still young, so a hot start would up his value to a 1st even with his contract expiring. Might as well ride it out.

If Florida is going after Panarin and Bobrovsky, nothing there works. Get those two, and keep the 13th pick. Easy choice. They can get Martinez at 50% too, but it won't cost a 1st.

Why does anyone want Forbort? Or LaDue? Those are not "I better make the playoffs with this trade" kind of guys.

Scandella isn't a bad contract. He's a UFA next year. Hutton is cheap, and why would the Kings want another 33 year old goalie back?

You want a bad contract? Get Okposo for Toffoli. Even then, it's not going to be the 7th this year. It'll be next year's 1st if anything. The Sabres aren't in much cap trouble.

I believe both Scandela and Russel will be third pairing dman next year, so Ladue or Forbort could be cheaper options whitout terms. Hutton would be expandable with Quick there, LA does it to get the first (even if it is San Jose pick)

Nineteen year old Alexandre Texier seems to be in the Jackets plan next season, as he performed well in the 1st round.

If history is any indication Toffoli will bounce back with a 20 goal campaign and finally net us a late 1st, same with Quick although that would mean he's leading us to a PO chase and likely wouldn't be moved in season..
We might be able to pull off a 1 for 1 swap with TBL for a forward and Amart. Lewis is going the Haglin route at the TDL... and with any luck Vilardi finally takes his place in our top 6...

Boy is that a lot of what IFs, but I guess thats all there is to do when your team sucks ass... Gosh I wish I lived closer to El Segundo brewing, I need a beer after typing that! lol
