This will be ironed out more during the draft process and teams will have a much better idea where he stands. If he remains that noncommittal he will slide, pure and simple. I just don't buy that happening

That’s exactly my thought as well. If Podzolkin doubles down on his Russia-centric rhetoric, he will slide down significantly.

If he walks it back, and clarifies his statements, he will be drafted by Chicago at #3. He’s simply too good to pass up with even a soft commitment to come to the NHL as soon as possible.

The problem is the Kings need what he brings NOW, and they have to wait at minimum 2 years before they can get those skills. Not worth the wait imo.
The Kings will need what he brings now, two years from now, and five years from now.

I’m wondering if the Kings should look into a Kadri trade. Three more years at $4.5M. TOR needs to clear up cap space for MM. Kadri seems to have issues staying out of trouble in the playoffs, which LA won’t probably be involved with for the next couple of years.

Just a thought.

Not the worst idea, but they're making it a point to not target anyone in a trade older than 25 as part of this rebuild. Kadri is turning 29 this year.

Amart for Kadri?

Amart for Kadri?

I don't think Toronto would do it as they need cap space and I think Kadri is worth more than Martinez.

Toronto will be dealing him for a player on his ELC as the main piece coming back. LA should not be interested in that unless it is a three way deal of some sort. Like Jost to Toronto, Kadri to LA, XXX to Colorado.

Figured.... our hands are pretty much tied for any type of guy with a good deal.. our chips are worth picks and not much more

Amadio for Kadri?

Don't think Toronto does it but i think it would be more valuable to them.

Does LA still have Voynov's rights? Maybe once his appeal is done and assuming he is allowed to play next year Amadio + Voynov (signed to 1 year deal around $3M) for Kadri. Leafs shed salary (albeit likely not enough, Improve D and get a prospect.

Very few teams would touch VV and the TML arent one of them.
I like Amadio as our 3C, I expect both Toffoli and Carter to hit the 20 goal mark then get moved.. the issue I have is with Kempe being the 2C, I mean the kid Forrest Gump! World class skills, peanut brain... Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Vilardi make an appearance. It seems odd that the kid has been injured all year yet the few games and tournaments he played/participated in he dominated or looked dominant! Both times shut down by the Kings and zero info out just speculation..... the kid had zero to prove in juniors and Ontario was a poop show, so I obviously know nothing about what’s going on with him but I just find it fishy.. so for the long winded reply

I think Toronto is absolutely one of the places that could take on the PR nightmare he would cause. They have done a lot for equality and women's rights so can use that to combat. Plus the market there is very much just focused on whatever the news of the day is. So it would be an issue for a week until they have something else to focus on. Think if Toronto were to pick up Voynov and then three days later announce a Marner extension, the headlines would only be about Marner. If Voynov produces and does one or two donations of time or money to local charities they will sell it as a successful rehabilitation.

Edit: Meant to ask what you think the future holds for Vilardi...or more what you would not be surprised to have happen.

Voynov is about to become a UFA in July, plus he can't play next season, so that's not really useful.

I agree that value-wise it's not even, but this is what you get when you paint yourself into a corner with the salary cap. Really what the Kings should do is trade the Leafs an expiring contract like Trevor Lewis.

I'm skeptical that the Kings would even try to trade for an older Kadri. The Kings are trying to get younger. On the other hand, adding Kadri could bump Carter out of 2C slot and give the Kings two second/third lines.

Is that a joke? Nothing against Amadio but he doesnt get us Kadris jock.

LOL for sure.

But their pick between Walker, Ladue, and Ryan +? A Cost Controlled young Dman who can play in the league? There are other options.

I do like the idea but its gonna be a bigger hit than Amadio.

I think Voynov's appeal is successful and he does play next year, suck he will be a UFA as I would have liked LA to get something for him.

I think we finally see Vilardi next season and he lives up to the hype, If not then we take a huge blow to our planned rebuild...
As for Voynov, we could take him back and no one would bat an eye.. he'd solidify our top 4 and could be traded once he establishes himself again and we would get a nice return... he's going on 30 YO and shouldn't really be in our future plans

Yeah thats not happening because they'd want one of Mikey Anderson or Kale Clague and the FO isn't giving any of those two up.

I hope you are right on Vilardi. Will be a lot to ask him to step in after not playing even CHL for a year.

How would you feel about Vilardi + 5 to the Rangers for the 2nd oA?

No way I'd consider Anderson, unless the Devils or Rangers came knocking for 1 or 2 OA.

Cleague is who we should consider for the 3OA. Then I would consider him on the table as well.

Kadri doesn't generate that type of consideration from my POV.

While I like Kadri, he only had 16 goals for the season and averages 16 minutes a game. I would like to see a higher level offensive player that can actually mentor our youth.

Dump VV rights for anything really in package deal with Quick, we're going to lose a goalie in the Seattle draft so best Quick be on his way and then stock up.

I don't think the FO is willing to give up the assets needed to get #2 nor should they. We need to stick to the build and be patient. Im pretty sure it be more like #5, #24, Kupari ...ugh, thats a lot

Why do you just want to trade away Defenseman, especially Clague who is considered a future regular player and PP QB just to move up 2 spots and take another Defenseman? You don't do anything to build up depth that way. Clague may not be Doughty but I don't see the logic in moving a guy who is close to making the team as an Offensive Dman which we really need since we don't score goals.

We can watch Cernak right now and think about trading away a Defenseman without seeing what type of upside he has. There is virtually zero chance that the Kings will be trading away any prospects at this stage. They want to move NHL bloated contracts and get leaner so they can see what guys like Clague can do.
