From Blake's quote today (Jon Rosen's Twitter):
"Plan for Vilardi is still rest, rehab, and “protocol to get him ready for training camp,” per Blake. He was asked whether his back injury was more disc or muscle-based and said that it’s a little bit of both."
Sounds like it's still totally up in the air whether and when Vilardi will play again.

Lets take the time to appreciate how ****ing well these two played during a god awful season.

Clifford, Campbell, Wagner were a joy to watch each and every time they touched the ice.

I'd personally add Grundstrom, Leipsic (president of the fanclub here), and Amadio to that.

Thoughts on Brendan Leipsic?

I'd take him over Lewis for the bottom six winger role. Guy is speedy and pretty crafty.
On Leipsic, not gonna really move the needle. Sort of a replacement level player to me. Not quite crafty enough to create real scoring chances, not quite fast enough to back off defenders. Might be a place holder for a year, but I don't view him as a long term solution for any problem plaguing the Kings.

I'm not sold on Amadio. Haven't seen enough consistency from him personally.

It seems like the youth movement next year will be:

Luff, Grundstrom, Wagner, and Amadio will solidify spots up front.

Lizotte and Rempal May be in that discussion too.

JAD and Thomas probably won’t make it next year. Thinking Kupari won’t be rushed either.

Hughes or Kaako are probably givens if they are lucky enough to get them. I’m losing hope on Vilardi.

Anderson, Clague, and Brickley, could push for spots but are competing with Roy, Walker, LaDue, and MacDermid. Hard to say who makes the team out of camp.

Durzi and Phillips are years away.

If Carter, Quick, and Phaneuf are moved out, I expect to see:

Kovy Kopi Brown
Iafallo Kempe Grundstrom
Luff Lizotte Toffoli
Clifford Amadio Wagner
Lewis

Doughty Forbort
Amart Walker
Roy LaDue
MacDermid

Campbell
Petersen

Leipsic and Brodz walk.

Amart, Toffoli, and Lewis get moved at the deadline.

Big Mac needs to play. I know the league has changed. Why be like everyone else? They have to play tough. That’s their game. The Lottery is going to change this franchise. Think The freaking penguins.

The team plays more physically when he is in and can regulate chicken sh*t behavior from other teams. I love it.

Laughed when I saw this article...
Player of the Year: Alex Iafallo

In his sophomore season with the Kings, the forward racked up 32 points and proved he could compete on the top line

I guess I miss the days when Nicholls scored 70 goals and Gretz had TWO 160+ point seasons....Kurri was chipping in 87 points...even Blake scored 20 goals and had 68 points....yeah, those days are long gone. (back when goalie equipment was 2/3 today's size, for that matter)
"racking up 32 points" is the new standard of proving you are top line stuff. 32 points were pisspoor totals at the 40 game mark on the second line back then...even by today's standards, 32 points playing with Kopitar and Brown is third line stuff.

Love Alex, but need 3 new Top 6 players this coming season. Carter and Toffoli no longer can do it and Alex should
be doing a great job on the third line. I'd rather move Grundstrom to LW1. Maybe Prokhorkin signs and can step in.

Iafallo is a 3rd liner pretty much.

32 points mostly on the top line tells you how bad this season really was.

The thing about Iafallo is he appears to produce wherever you put him. I think the most effective I've seen him play was paired with Kempe with another player with a high motor throughout the pre-season when he first broke in. I have no idea why that wasn't tried more during the regular season, other than it was too chaotic for the conservative style they'd been playing. I don't see much of a dip in his points if he played 3rd line full time rather than the first. He's going to be a valuable guy in that he can fill that productive 3rd line player role.

I think they said this was a fan vote and I had a feeling when I saw this that hardly anyone voted and Iafallo just happened to be leading it.

What would be a great leader? Brown handles the media well. He doesn't throw people under the bus, but is unafraid to evaluate their performance. He was vocal on the bench. He believes in leading by example and carrying confidence. He's had success at it and he won an award for it.

He clashed with management, coaches, and players during his tenure here. You look at this year, where was his leadership? We got guys coming out saying practices were terrible, guys mailing it in etc. where’s the leadership?

Let’s not forget this guy was playing poorly before our first cup run and DL started listening to offers for him and once word got out that he was going to be traded, he kicked into gear because he didn’t want to leave LA. What kind of leadership is that?

You can write a paragraph on how every one of our players suck at leadership. Doesn't change the fact that he's the best we have in that locker room.

Aside from avery, who did he clash with?

Brown hasn't been captain for several seasons now. It's not his role anymore. He leads by example as shown by his continued positive work ethic on the team. He was one of the few that had a decent season despite everything going on.

That's funny because he had his second highest point total in 2010-11 and still had over 50pts for 2011-12. Brown said in the Cup doc that he was told he wasn't getting traded despite all the rumors well before the deadline. You still haven't described what great leadership would be or provided examples.
