Slight adjustment to your lineup.

I think the 3rd line will have Iaffalo instead of Kupari. I think Kupari starts in AHL. New coach will have him penciled at that spot. Who I want there is either Brodzinski or Luff. I would look into getting Rempal in also (let Leipsic walk).

For D, I hope Anderson is good enough. I would rather have Roy instead of Walker as Roy is a lot better defensively in my mind. If the Kings go free agent in this spot, I think this is more of a re-load than a rebuild. Having a really good vet will really stabilize this D (along with Voynov) for the better and may be able to compete for the playoffs next year.

I also agree that Kings need to be tougher up and down the lineup. Ever since MR left, this team is a little bit too soft in recent years. No one stepping in when the top players get rocked. Maybe the new coach will instill this to them.

So, flame away...

Browns play took off after the trade rumors, if you want to believe that’s just a coincidence, go right ahead.

You don’t need to be captain to have good leadership and don’t need a letter to exude leadership. The fact is that Brown has had some issues with coaches, management, other players etc.

All I’m saying is the brown is a leader stuff is way overblown. He’s not a Sakic, Yzerman, Messier etc. those guys were true leaders and they set the example of what is expected in the locker room. Keeping players focused, training hard, motivating guys. It shouldn’t be a surprise that once Mitchell and Willie bailed that the Kings really struggled and exposed the leadership problems and clashes with management/coaches started.

You can count those on one hand and frankly I'm glad he hated Avery.

I'm more wary about a leader who pleases and is pleased with everyone than one who has occasional and necessary conflicts.

Brown has been applauded as a leader since juniors from people inside and outside every locker room he's been in, has NHL leadership awards to prove it, and has been a model citizen off the ice in the community. Your manufactured incidents don't dismiss that.

You're right that he's not a first ballot Hall of Famer though, I guess.

I don't think I am going out on a limb here by saying Sutter and Brown didn't always get along. That being said, Brown probably played at his highest level ever during the 2012 playoffs, and that was under Sutter. I am sure there are many posters here who have played competitive sports under a coach they didn't like. As long as there was mutual respect, no big deal. I don't think Brown has ever been anything but a consummate professional.

Since that SUCKKKED...Along with Voynov banned into forever...

At least can hope Mikey Anderson signs and Prokhorkin signs. As long as lotto ballz not involved with these 2 things. Shttt.

Wait what? Really. Theres plenty of team personnel who have talked extensively about Brown's leadership. He's won the Messier Award given to players for leadership. And I'm sorry but isnt that leadership personified? He was having a rough stretch and turned it around and LED his team to a Cup. Without Dustin Brown the Kings dont win the Cup in 2012.
You can say that about 4-5 guys though.

I think Brown is a decent leader but I think him being this great leader is overblown. He somehow gets tons of credit for when they were winning but gets absolutely no blame for when they started losing. I think he's a very good lead be example guy on the ice though.

Super bummed about the lottery...but...I do think byram will be the Kings best option especially if Turcotte is gone at 3 or 4...

Our offense struggled this year, but so did our defense. The difference is, we have a decent amount of forward prospects now...Kupari, Vilardi(I know, health), JAD, Thomas, Grundstrom, wildcard Prokhorkin... defense...not so much. Basically just Clague...we need someone like Byram...

Defense could look similar to this in a few years...

Byram-Doughty
Clague-Phillips
Hults-Walker
MacDermid(wishful thinking haha)

from that article earlier...

The team is still in a holding pattern with Gabe Vilardi (back). Nothing new to report here. I asked Blake whether the summertime plan was for Vilardi to rest and recover or get back into a regular work regimen, and he responded, “I think it’s both – rest and rehab and stay on protocol that would have him ready for training camp.” He was asked whether the injury was muscular or related to a disc in his back.A combination of both,” he said.

can an athlete recuperate from a disc injury and play at such an intense level in the NHL?

disc is MAJOR... wtf

Well, at this point Blake needs to watch Draft Day a thousand times to learn how it's done.

Tiger Woods had a disk problem and had surgery to relieve the pressure on a nerve it was affecting. He also underwent PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy to help heal the disk. It was a long road back for him, but he is swinging pain free again.

i understand, probably not the same level of intensity as hockey but i'm sure swinging a golf club with a disc issue isn't easy at all

also... i'm assuming, that Woods has never been the same player again?

My concern isn't Vilardi's well being, as i'm sure he will be ok, my concern is how much will this issue interfere with his growth as a full time NHL player

Anderson will be the Kings second best defenseman, this time next year.

I think with Woods it might be a combination of his age and his back injury. The Kings doctors should be aware of the PRP therapy. I wouldn't be surprised if they have tried it on Vilardi.

No! Unless there is secret hidden footage I haven't seen. 7 goal scorer last year and scores only 25 this year. No quickness.
Zegras and Krebs much better picks at 5. Better skaters and more talented.
2 or 3 of Turcotte, Cozens, Byram, Zegras, Krebs should still be on the board at 5.

True, but Woods doesn't get hit in the back 100 times a year.

True, but the point of my post is that Vilardi's back is injured. Vilardi hasn't been hit in months and he is still having problems. Step 1 get his back healed.

although i agree with you

to be fair to KIRBY

Saskatoon Blades 2018-19 roster and scoring statistics at hockeydb.com

he's right up there as a 17 yr old with Gerlach and Davidson both as 20 yr olds

but i have no idea how all this will translate, but there's something there

edit: and Turcotte seems to be injury prone, we already have Vilardi... don't know if that's a risk we can afford to take

Yes. Please no Dach… which of course means they'll probably end up drafting him.
