Iafallo's contract is fine, pretty much a Dwight King deal. Hopefully, we see him more on the bottom 6 though than on the top. He is a tremendous depth player, but a first liner? Not so much.

If you have players like him on your depth chart though, then you're competing for a cup.

You boys and girls have any interest in the return of JMFJ if there is salary retention and a pick/prospect for a 7th? What about big 'ol Erik Gudbranson to round out the old D corps for similar deal?

I saw Johnson's name tied to the Kings on a rumor site, I'd be shocked if the Kings dealt for him. IMO, the single biggest thing done to vault the Kings into Cup contenders was to trade Johnson and his incredibly low hockey IQ to the Jackets for Jeff Carter.

I’d consider JMFJ back in LA if it meant Jeff Carter went the other way, zero retained salary.

Only if the Pens retain 200% of his salary and throw in a 1st round pick. In other words, no way he comes back to LA.

But Craig Button said it was a terrible move that would bite the Kings in the ass!

A buyout of Jack Johnson would be on the books until 2026-27. That’s out of control. I don’t see any way this happens. The term is just too long. It would have to be a really great piece coming back.

It's going to depend on the prospects and picks. It would probably have to start with Poulin, and work from there, because Johnson and Gudbranson do nothing for the Kings. Can't really even expect to flip them in another deal at a later date. Maybe if Gudbranson was a UFA after this year like Forbort, but you have to hold onto him for almost 2 years, and he's not going to get better.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Intentionally or not, probably yes for two more years at least.
We will disagree on this, but I think the Kings will "black hole" (6th-13th worst record) in 2019-20 and compete for the playoffs in 2020-21. You can't have a team finish in the bottom 5 three seasons in a row. That's instilling a culture of losing.

I think the Kings will be one of the 5 worst teams again next year. They will be another year older and I am not expecting their core guys to have monster years or big rebounds. I am actually glad that they stayed the course and I hope that they get another high draft pick no matter where they end up. The one thing I wish that they would do is take on a bad contract for 1-2 years to get assets like a prospect or high pick in return but those things need a lot of elements to work out.

The Kings need to find ways to infuse more high level prospects into the system whether it be via the draft or creatively moving 1-2 existing players. I never favor gutting a team because it messes with the structure and culture. You need some balance but they could move a couple of guys like AMart and Toffoli by the deadline.

JAD and Mikey Anderson make the team. Ladue is waived and claimed. Kings finish somewhere around 5th in the pacific. Quick and Carter have much improved seasons and are both moved at the deadline...

Kings make the playoffs in 20/21
