I really liked Leipsic.

I'm surprised there isn't a place for a high-energy, high-effort, reasonably skilled veteran 13th forward that isn't going to complain and would make near league minimum. This is the perfect guy to insert into the lineup if a kid is struggling.

Maybe they'll re-visit him and pick him up the second week of July.

Assuming nobody is added, the forwards for next season appear to be:

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Kovalchuk-Kempe-Toffoli
Grundstrom-Prokhorkin-Carter
Clifford-Amadio/Lewis-Wagner

Unless roster changes are made over the summer, there's your 13 forwards that will likely start the season.

Wouldn't shock me if Luff is in there ahead of Grundstrom. He's a little older. Probably puts Wagner at 3LW. Wagner has done more than most of the other young guys. Luff is cheaper than Grundstrom at the NHL level, by a couple hundred K. Cheaper at the AHL level too, by 20k. If the goal is saving some money...

If thats realy our 2C-4C we're in deep ****... Kempe wont win the 2C, that'll go to a healthier Jeff Carter. Michael Amadio in a fair race likely claims the 3C .. Iafallo wont be on the top line again

Not sure how many times the team has to tell us that doesn't matter anymore.

i dont understand the coaching staff and their love towards Iafallo, can someone please explain to me why he's considered a top 6 forward?

I mean just looking at this stats for the past 2 years, it's quite unattractive based on his production. Is his ceiling high or does he have the intangibles to be on the same line as our 1C/2C?

Kopitar probably feels comfortable with him. Who else does he at least sort of mesh with these days other than Brown? Certainly not Kovalchuk. Plus, he's likely one of those guys coaches love. Goes out there, keeps it simple, hustles, doesn't make stupid mistakes again and again.

Any possibility that our recent draft class can make the roster spot (excluding Turcotte because I know he's going to U. of Wisc)?

No real future in LA. Next summer could be a a lot of the youth looking for spots. Likely didn’t offer him any term.

Kaliyev would probably be most likely but even then I'd give it a 6% chance of actually happening.

Nah, I don't see any 2019 picks making the cut.

Turcotte can't even go to training camp unless he de-commits to Wisconsin.

Kaliyev has no chance. All the Euros are under contract with their teams. Nobody else close.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

This just in: Brendan Leipsic is not that good. I enjoyed watching him play, but never have I seen so much effort and so many moves with so few actual results.

Bon voyage, mon ami. I hope you find a good landing spot.

That's the thing, he doesn't want to be a 13th forward, he'd be competing against LA's youngsters coming up and likely wants more than what LA is willing to pay. Jon Rosen eluded to this.

“The Kings have young players with longer lifespans within the organization that he'd be competing for playing time against. Assume he wants to go to a place where there's a clearer road map towards regular playing time and for more money than the Kings would prefer to pay him.”

Nov 12th to Dec 12th, 16 games, the Kings barely leave the state, other than a back to back in Alberta. Feb 20th to Mar 22nd, 15 games, and 14 of them are home games, with the other in Vegas. If next year is to mean anything, those 31 games will be huge.

I explained that part as well previously. They've mismanaged his development by forcing him at Center and like I said, he's a reactionary winger. He needs to be on the outside sniping and finishing plays not trying to create them.. I think/hope TMac puts him at LW, he'd easily be a 40pt guy 20/20 minimum
I was replying to you saying “HE has come up short”, which is unfair to say. If the view about him being mismanaged stands up then it would be more a case of him doing pretty well given the circumstances.

Someone blamed it on coaching but that’s just one part of the equation. Kempe might be playing out of position, is on his 3rd coach and whatever other valid excuse people can throw in there doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s been giving consistent ice time but he’s regressed. Look at his play and there’s no denying it, I expect his production to be much better under TMac but his lack of Hockey IQ is pretty obvious. I once saw Kempe as a potential top 6 but he’s looking more like a 3rd liner and an above average one if he finds consistency... Nothing wrong with that

An interesting discussion. I’m not sure where he’d fit in the lineup, but his leadership is sorely missed.

The bigger question might be, would Williams want to come all the way back to the west coast? Does Carolina not want to have Williams back?

I think the suggestion of a 3-year contract at a cap hit of $6M is patently absurd. Try two years at most for around a cap hit of $4.5M on for size.

If Williams does want to play another season or two, a team like Florida could definitely use the type of leadership Williams would provide.

Does Williams even want to play another season?

Carolina wants JW back. They have left it up to him as to if he wants to return. I had read something a few weeks back mentioning he was thinking about shutting it down so we’ll see where it goes.

As for Leipsic, I didn’t mind him but, guys like him are a dime a dozen. This probably gives a guy like Matt Luff a chance to carve out a full time roll on the bottom 6 this season and I got no problem with that.

Yes. It might not be intentional, but it's probably gonna happen anyway.

Then again, if you ask Jesse Cohen they are going to improve by 30 points and win the division.
This is why it's a waste of time to read Cohen.

I thought Williams has said over and over again that he's staying east at this point. Most likely Carolina or nothing. Unless the Kings gave him stupidly stupid money, which they're not doing, and probably can't do, what reason would he have to come here? The Williams ship sailed a long time ago, in part because he also probably chose to leave, as much as the cap pressure the Kings had/were going to have back then.

I think that's an article that indicates how boring the next week will be for the Kings.

yup was total click bait.

Zero chance Williams moves west let alone to a rebuilding/re-tooling kings team

So the plan is to throw kids who might not be ready to the wolves? Brilliant.

I don't think so, Wagner played 62 NHL games last year, Luff played 33 (and has played 0ver 100 in the AHL), Grundstrom played 80 games in the top league in Sweden and represented himself well before coming over and playing 70 between the AHL/NHL last year, Prokhorkin is 25 (sink or swim), i'm of the opinion that they should all be in the lineup every night.

Now, Kupari and Anderson-Dolan, I would be more conservative with them and I think they intend to do so, because there are only so many open forward spots at the moment.
