Right now, there is probably no one on the team more motivated to redeem himself than Beaulieu. His screwup is the 'teachable moment' that builds experience and makes him a better player. The last thing you want to do is remove him from that.
This.

Haven't seen you posting much lately buddy. You need to impart your wisdom more often around here.

I've seen more backchecking in pick up hockey than the first line in that period. PLEASE limit their ice time, pleaes please please.

DD is not the problem, he's a symptom of the problem. The problem is the coach. Any coach worth his salt would've realized that this was wrongheaded long ago. And yet we STILL see DD used as a number one and STILL see him welded to Max. How the **** we don't see Max with anyone else is just dumbfounding.

To be fair here, I think DD would struggle if he get used differently.

Galchenyuk will need some sheltering at the beginning and we can't shelter 2 lines, so unless MT move DD to the wing, Galch as center doesn't seems possible.

That's an indirect way of dealing with a flawed coach. Yes, he has a great record, but he is still the weak link on a potential juggernaut backstopped by an elite goaltending tandem.

I'm listening to the Pitts broadcast. They're very familiar with MT, They report as fact that the Bourque demotion and pressure to play Sekac was imposed by Bergevin on MT.

It was a sloppy period with some brutal turnovers/ Hopefully the guys can pick it up in the second. The real game doesn't start until the second. :naughty:

Essentially, but what's even worse is them refusing to back check. Unacceptable.

And it's not even a critic of the DD line. It's more about the fact MT loves them just too damn much. DD line has no reason to wake up if MT keeps giving them way too many oppotunities.

Desharnais played well when he first came up with the team on the 3rd line with bangers for wingers. There's no reason to believe he can't be effective in a limited role with less talented wingers that drive the net.

I was a huge fan of him coming up from the AHL. He was battling hard and shooting to the net.

So what?

Look, young players are going to **** up, everyone gets that. I wouldn't have a problem with him getting benched except that it happens all the time. That's not how you develop younger players.

The guy ****ed up... okay, let him learn from it and move on. You don't play the kid 6 mins a night and expect him to develop. That's just ****ing stupid.

Right... and when he inevitably ****s up, we can bench him too. Then we can send him back to Hamilton for Beaulieu... Sounds great!

At least Beaulieu was sent back out shortly afterwards. This game is turning into a good test of how Beaulieu is judged by Therrien.

I have to give credit to some of the posters on this board, consistently talking about DD for the last three without getting tired is a remarkable feat.

Pacioretty and Desharnais normally backcheck hard and try to play a 200 foot game. But for some reason in that period they just refused. I don't get it.

I agree.

That's why he shouldn't be on the team to begin with. And if we had a different coach, DD wouldn't be here.

DD shouldn't be on the wing... he's not a winger. We should just move on from him altogether.

I thought we didn't look so bad during that the first period. We score next and the game is up for grabs. Go Habs go!

Beaulieu is an offensive defenseman.

Who can never get his shot through.

Beaulieu has 6 assists in 37 games. Tinordi has 6 assists in 39 games.

Its all in both of their usage though. The same thing can be said about Tinordi being a shutdown D with flawed defensive skills. Beaulieu has the potential and tools to be a really solid offensive D man, and Tinner has the potential and tools to become an elite shut down D man, but those types of players dont develop overnight, it takes seasons of learning from MISTAKES that they will inevitably make. You only learn from your mistakes when given the confidence and proper know-how to handle the situation differently the next time. Our issue is our ****ing coach benches anybody sub-24 years old anytime they make any defensive mistake. Which breaks confidence and doesnt really teach anybody anything.
