It’s a rebuild.
In less than 15s, the following names came to mind. Many other alternatives abound ...

Doughty
Karlsson
Burns
Pietrangelo
Hedman
Weber
Josi
Carlson
Letang
Subban

He was a top 15 defensemen before he blew his shoulder out and played so many deep yet unsuccessful playoff runs. He isn't that player anymore, but good lord you guys really lose grasp of cause and effect in your analysis.

McDonagh is completely out of it this season. Too much leadership pressure with Girardi and Stepan gone?
Exactly. You simply cannot lose that kind of leadership and expect things to improve. G&S will be missed much more than many want to admit.

A turnover that bad happens 2, 3 times year.

Controlling the flow of the game happens all night, every night.

The ice is heavily tilted in the Rangers favor when McDonagh is on the ice.

McDonagh is fine. Holy ****.

Half you people criticizing AV are just as reactionary as he is.

As one of the most consistently negative posters on this forum, you saying McDonagh is "fine" is particularly head scratching.

Grasping defeat from the jaws of victory.

Lots of positives though. Learn from them and move on.

Hope AV doesn't throw lines into a blender and runs this lineup again on Thursday. But this was a loss, so I expect brand new lines.

Or, you know, they once again got into a hole less than a minute in and took 30 minutes to realize they were playing a game.

That hasn't been a consistent problem under AV, though. Clearly.

Or, you know, tape McD's butt to the bench at the start of games from now on.

After that Grabner goal (which was really filthy by the way) I did to myself, hey, at least they care. The guys actually looked fired up and perhaps ready to turn the corner.

Then whatever the f*** that was happened.
