Rangers aren’t turning anything around quickly picking in the middle to the back of the first round of the draft, which is exactly what they’ve been doing since the 04-05 lockout.

There was only maybe one draft as deep as this one since then... it's a slightly different story this year. Not to mention they have 2 extra first round picks where there will still be VERY good players on the board. Yeah I wish they'd pick in the top 5, but it's not the end of the world if they don't. If they have a good draft there will a pretty substantial surplus of talent in this system. You could be doing FAR worse if you're a team

Kids came out and played with balls in the third. That's the difference between us and the perpetually garbage teams. I've said this before, but the existing kids playing well is far more valuable than a marginally better draft position.

Kreider and Mika had huge games.

Pionk had a few really good moments, the best being making Letang chase him around.

Georgiev was incredible imo. The third goal was bad but he stopped a lot of great chances. The balls on that penalty shot save...

If we take back Bobby Ryan with him, maybe not as much as we think?

What was Vegas' rumored deal with Ottawa for just EK? I believe Friedman reported it was:

-2 first rounders
-prospect
-conditional pick probably depending on if he re-signs

That was apparently the deal without taking Ryan back and when Dorion tried to force Ryan on them it fell apart. So maybe if you take Ryan with him you turn the second first turn into a 2nd? Maybe a 1st and a 2nd, good prospect and a conditional pick. Maybe send them one of the more mid range prospects+Vesey instead of a top prospect? Maybe one of these kids playing now could be included after being showcased like Gilmour or TDA?

Yup. All 3 teams that picked top 3 last year moved up in the lottery. So none of the 3 worst teams ended up with a top 3 pick.

Devils were 5th worst and moved up to number 1. Flyers were 13th worst and moved up to number 2! Dallas was 8th worst and moved up to number 3.

I might be crazy BUT ... one thing this team does have is some good pieces. We are dysfunctional at times and quite honestly overall a pretty bad hockey team, but if you can somehow land Svechnikov in the draft, maybe get a good PMD late in the first round, then this rebuild is a whole lot different and they are probably competitive in a year.

I'm going Farrabee with our first pick, trade up for Bode Wilde, then grab Kravtsov with our late 1st.

The thing is we took a big talent hit at the deadline but since those trades the team's overall effort has been a lot lot lot lot better. We got outclassed against Tampa and Winnipeg played us real tight but other than that this team has played extremely well considering that talent hit and our inexperienced defense. Pionk and Georgiev have both been great. Mouth was on here a few days ago with his idiotic remark that Pionk stinks--you have to wonder if he's ready to take that back already. Georgiev looks like a real deal goaltender. 21-22 years old and not only good but very composed. He looks like a future NHL starter to me.

Before I got sidetracked I was going to mention that penalty shot was completely warranted. George flat out rams into and then purposely shrugs the net off its moorings.

I will be completely unsurprised when AV is back next year. Management will give him way too much credit for these wins and not nearly enough for all the losses and issues we've seen year after year.

Can someone loop Giorgiev stopping Malkin on the penalty shot with "ain't nuthin' but a G thang" in the background? G is a player too. As much as I want a great draft pick I feel real joy for these guys when they go and do the things they aren't supposed to be able to do. I can't root for the future kids without rooting for the present kids. These kids have heart. They aren't dumping games. That's a good foundation. Scouts, work as hard as these kids are. You arent getting a top 10 pick by the looks of it. So do your work and find the guy nobody else is looking at. But get players. That is all.
