It's not the main aim though. Not all players put on waivers are put there for the purpose of other teams claiming them. Possible in this case. I'm not sure. Pitlick does clutter our wingers but he does help Laval if he clears. He could possibly play center in Laval as well.

I would have waived one of Drouin, Dadanov, or Pitlick. Hoffman has been a bit better IMO. None of them are going to hurt us if they get claimed. So it's a meh decision in the end.
Can you imagine the local media shitshow if Drouin gets waived?

It will never happen.

To me that is crazy Pitlick brought so much speed and energy last years… Hasn’t been anything special this year but vs. Dadonov or Hoffman which likely wouldn’t get pick up just based on there salary…
I understand not being able to move Dadonov, Drouin, Hoffman, Pezz but pretty sure you can find a team willing to give something for Pitlick… send Slaf or Xhekaj on a paper transaction to buy a few extra hours… I don’t like this move, but hopefully in the don’t really have any effect…

I liked him a lot last year.. has done nothing noticeable this year.

He did look better last year but it was a tank season where he got more min's but he was a turnover king. Doesn't hit much, don't block much and his giveaways/60 and takeaways/60 is meh. His 26 pts and 9 goals in 46 games looked good yes. Played higher in the line-up though

Good skater and decent player but he's having a hard time this year in a depth role. If he clears, maybe a full time roll in the AHL gets his confidence and game back in line.

I don't expect him to be claimed, especially with the extra year on his contract.

I won't be terribly disappointed if he does get claimed. He likely tops at a 3rd liner at best.

Ideally Hoffman, Drouin or Dadanov would go first, but it's clear HuGo is trying to trade them first.

We actually found the first guy that did better under Ducharme than MSL....

Not really, though. He had 16 pts in 29 GP under Ducharme for a .55 PPG pace. He had 21 pts in 37 GP under MSL last year for a .57 PPG pace.

He did well under Ducharme. However, he still did better under MSL last year.

It's this year that things haven't been going well for Pitlick. But after his pre-season, you'd think he'd carry over last year to this season. I felt he and Evans were such a great duo at camp and that was encouraging for the 4th line.

One of them will be gone at one point and it will be when Matheson comes back.

Yeah, very true. And they likely placed someone on waivers that would report to the AHL if they are not claimed.

At the end of the day, it's a meh decision. I think we all agree there.

Yup! Agreed. Any news on when Byron is due back?

I believe his AAV is very close or the exact same of how much you can hide a cap hit in the AHL? So his extra year in term is not a problem IMO.

Not 100% he gets claimed and maybe we can put 50/50 odds on it?

Being put on waivers must be as unpleasant as being named pitlick

One spare parts in a sea of spare parts.....not the end of the world, but we have shittier spare parts to throw away.

I wish we could throw them away. Said it before but another reminder... Remember when our fan base didn't even want to pay Danault $4.5M?

Armia + Hoffman + Dvorak = $12.35M.
vs
Danault = $5.5M.

* Imagine having Danault and almost an extra $7M in cap space and an extra 1st rounder last year (KK offer sheet)? No need to trade for Dvorak with Suzuki, Danault, Evans, Poehling.

This wraps up Bergevin's tenure. Brilliant move to sign Xhekaj but then a dud with how he managed Danault. Bergevin's spending on Weber's cap space was not good! Not one bit

Wow... I noticed that and didn't think much but I guess others noticed it as well. Probably not happy with Hughes at the moment right? Doesn't get qualified and we sign him to a team friendly deal with the likely narrative he has a chance to prove himself on a rebuilding roster.

Sorry Pitlick, it's business. You didn't play well with the chances you got this season.

IMO, Armia and especially Dvorak are in a separate category than the other high paid vets as they bring something else than just points.
