tbh, I feel bad for Pitlick because he took a very good deal to stay with us and he deserves to play over a number of forwards that will unfortunately be in the lineup all season long.

He was given a 2 year, one way deal after half a good season on a terrible team so it is hard to feel sorry for him. Guys like Pitlick can't take their spots for granted and so far this year he did nothing to deserve a roster spot (along with Hoffman/Drouin/Dadonov).

Hopefully some time in the AHL can wake him up. If he gets claimed them no big loss and maybe a Ylonen or RHP can take his spot in the future.

In the end, it means that nobody wants our Bergie crap. Or that it could take MUCH longer to deal them. Hence having to put on waivers a serviceable guy.
I think everyone that was already dealt minus Edmundson were the players teams had interest in. I am not sure we'll even get a 7th for Drouin and Dadonov at the deadline.

Teams definitely had (have?) interest in Anderson and Allen.

Bad day for REM…

An equally bad day for his commercial venture.

I think we actually tanked Allen's immediate value by re-signing him. Anderson also wouldn't be able to be traded without cap coming back so it would more likely be a hockey deal.

The Bergie crap aren't really helping their cases. Dadonov and Hoffman can use the excuse that they are on the wrong side of 30, but Drouin is 27 and should be playing the best hockey of his career, but he's playing the most ineffective hockey of it instead.

I'm just glad we're not forcing ice time to vets like we have under our last 10 coaches.

Good luck in Washington. Guaranteed claimed, I think this is one of those things where they are doing him a favour since he wasn't happy being on the bench.

But his attitude this year STINKS, a real let down
Honeymoons over

Was never going to be part of the new core ANYway, was a stopgap, thought he'd gap 1 more year but it lasted 7 more games lol

Couldnt care what happens with any scenario

Washington is at 23 players since they claimed Aubé-Kubel yesterday.

Colorado is at 10 forwards thought.

I don't think Hughes wants him to be claimed. If he's in the ahl, then pretty much his whole cap hit won't count. He would contribute a lot to Laval who has had a bad start to the season.

Yeah, I guess there is that angle too. I believe his one way contract is 100% buried in the AHL as well.

Well that's the main aim of putting someone on waivers...that another team claims them.

Or you're trying to sneak someone through for your AHL team.

Rem was good last year but the talent level and competition is higher this year and although one could argue Hoffman, Drouin or Dadonov should have been waived first.

It wouldn't help the Habs roster crunch...Pitlick, one way or another, will.

It's not the main aim though. Not all players put on waivers are put there for the purpose of other teams claiming them. Possible in this case. I'm not sure. Pitlick does clutter our wingers but he does help Laval if he clears. He could possibly play center in Laval as well.

I would have waived one of Drouin, Dadanov, or Pitlick. Hoffman has been a bit better IMO. None of them are going to hurt us if they get claimed. So it's a meh decision in the end.

I can see him getting picked up for his combination of cheap contract and being a decent utility player. Could also see him get waived again if the team that nabs him gets healthy or whatever.

Like many Habs fans we expected way more from Pitlick up to this point. We also knew his stats last season and his shooting percentage would not be the norm.
You have kids in Laval who have paid their dues such as RHP and Ylonen. I think RHP would be the perfect 4th liner.

Probably a Hudon type narrative. Hard time making it full time on a competitive roster but in a tank season, they look good with putting up a bit of offense but their 200' game sucks.

In a previous tank season, Hudon had 30 pts and 10 goals in 72 games. But then back to reality the following season. I see it something similar even if Pitlick is a bit better overall.
