Wasn’t expecting much, no big deal. We are tanking clearly. If Petry was worth a first round pick, we would have it now. Those thinking we could send him at the trade deadline for good value forget that we would have to retain salary to make it work, which is a bad idea.

Matheson is a lowkey top pair defenseman. Take it from a Rangers fan I’m glad the Pens don’t have him anymore. Elite skater, can throw big hits, and is very good in transition. He’s really not as bad as people think, hasn’t been bad since he left Florida

That's pretty bad. Had to give up Poehling (who isn't great, but a cost controlled bottom 6) and had to take back Matheson while only getting a 4th. Probably could've easily gotten a 4th rounder for Poehling alone.

We barely cleared cap though. And we actually added a year, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm pretty sure price is going on LTIR. They needed that little bit of extra cap for Dach. They also badly need a veteran D with Barron, Harris, and Guhle coming in in the next 1-2 years
