Pierre McGuire out on NBC Sports number one coverage

Should have him be their reporter in the field and try to interview fans at the game, or the zamboni driver, or maybe the beer guy.

I could watch that for 30 seconds.

No me gusta.

If they're going to replace anyone on the #1 team it should be Doc and Edzo, especially Edzo, not Pierre.

If they have to replace Pierre, the only worthy replacement is Ferraro.
Nah... too much money. They don’t want to afford him.

This is a cost cutting move... not an entertainment/performance issue.

I´ve never had any problems with Pierre's personality or broadcasting. He goes a bit off with his background trivias but that's not a big deal. Probably just because I like trivia like that, I understand some people can't stand listening to that. I like his energy and passion for the game.

people are pure assholes.

the guy has so much knowledge its unreal. you hear him or used to hear him on TSN radio in the mornings and you cant hate the guy, at all.
Sounds like the nicest, most sincere ever.

that being said, he even admitted to the Crosby narrative was pushed on him by the league, and no shit.. its a common sense business approach by the league and he's smart enough to know to push him. I just absolutely love how people rag on Pierre but they just LOVE Emrick. Guy is outright horrendous. Not every pass in the neutral zone needs to have emphasis.

Sounds like that colleague who puts a ! at the end of every sentence, while talking caps...

Also, i never thought Boucher was even that good. he's OK but far from OMGZzzzz

I really enjoy his passion and how many useless hockey facts he presents. I find it entertaining, but thankfully only deal with it once in a while. With all their cuts, I wonder if Rogers might throw money at him and bring him in on their broadcasts to moonlight. God, I hope not.

The way Rogers has been gutting people this season, I highly doubt it. They want to save money, not spend. Party’s over.

People of (small Canadian town) get excited this young man is going to be a great player in this league for a long time!

Must be offseason because people forget how irritating Pierre was on broadcasts. BOOM DOC WATCH NUMBER THIRTY THREE IN WHITE PRODUCT OF RED DEER

Someone bland isn't going to trigger anyone. When was the last time you heard Pierre talk and were impressed or came away with new knowledge on a telecast?

He's fine on tsn for trade centre and the draft where his deep knowledge of prospects especially pays off but as The man behind the glass nobody f***in cares where a player went to college

I thought he had been a lot better than the early years with him between the glass. Oh well. Not like the guy is out of a job or anything.

I don't care if Boucher is a bit vanilla. I'm just happy that I don't have to listen to Pierre's cringy nonsense as much.
FWIW, I'm there to watch the hockey game. That is the excitement and entertainment, not the announcer.

I always thought his references to players junior careers were lost on american TV audiences in general and pretty useless but he's a good analyst otherwise. Boucher is more bland which I guess is what they want.

Totally disagree!! Any hockey broadcast needs a man on the ice reporting!!

Is this Sam Flood?

Assuming you're a Caps fan -- I don't really mind Alan May between the benches (he's very insightful and knowledgeable, and certainly less annoying than Pierre), but it's unnecessary to have him there and I prefer him to be in studio analyzing the tape.

The biggest, during the game, problem I had with Pierre was that his voice was just a monotone drone for the most part. It was sleep inducing (especially with the endless jr hockey trivia). The non-game time interviews though... man he had no concept of personal space/asking really awkward questions. Bouncing between creepy & cringe inducing at a rapid pace.

He seems like a nice guy why genuinely loves the game, but he just shouldn't be involved in the on air aspect of the game. I wish him the best going into the future.

As much as we laugh about Pierre, he’s as passionate as they come.

Best of luck you creepy little bald man. You’ll be missed.

It's not like he was shipped off to the slaughterhouse, people. All this means is that he will be covering more late games and fewer of the "marquee" matchups.
