So, from Friedman and other sources, it sounds like it includes the following players

To Kings
Dubois
Harkins

To Jets
Arvidsson
Iafallo
Vilardi

It's more than this because even if the Jets buy out Wheeler, I don't think they can't fit those contract under the cap (if I look at Capfriendly). Someone else is going to the Kings or the Jets are trading another player to another team.
Harkins?

Why Harkins?
Just to try to even out the contracts a little?
Yeah, probably. He also requested a trade and has been buried in the AHL.

FYI, I like him. He's got a lot of energy, he's fast, has a good shot, good defensively. He just can't finish for some reason.

Hopefully if LA pulls out, so does Montreal. The interest seems only to be from the Dubois side, so why would Hughes bid against himself,?

Why is LA bidding against themselves?

Reports seem to indicate that Montreal's interest was high as a UFA and very low as an asset that requires surrendering other assets to get, so why is LA offering up Vilardi?

If I were the Kings, I would absolutely not be doing that.

That being said, if I were the Jets, I would absolutely be dealing for futures, not existing players. The whole transaction is odd.

You know...
Caufield and Suzuki were RFAs and sold several RFA years as part of their contracts. What they are making is not PLD's (or any other pending UFA's) problem). RFAs and UFAs always get a different tier of compensation.
Sure, but Caufield wanted over 8m a year and realistically could have gotten it. It sounded like they sold him on the idea of respecting the captains deal. Obviously Hughes doesn't need to honor it or anything, but it could be an easy way to annoy your current star players which I don't know if he would be willing to do or if it's a factor at play.

Ill put it out here one more time as a Habs fan.

I want PLD.

I want him at the price of Dvorak + Florida 1st + Beck/Harris/Roy/Kidney/Farrell/Mesar/Engstrom/Norlinder/Barron

I want him at 8 million a year.

If either of these things is off, I will be tepid at best.

If we include any of Dach/Hutson/Guhle/5th overall are in the deal I will feel like we overpaid and angry.

If LA beats our above offer with something that would have required someone from the Dach group, then I will be indifferent.

So....we can banter about actual cost all day long. But this is the value with which I place on PLD and my expected reactions whichever way this goes.

I like the gifs by the way haha

I think most Jets fans don't care where he goes

I think most Jets fans know that he will be traded at a discount, how big of a discount is TBD

Zero Jets fans are expecting a kings ransom for PLD

No interest in CC or Dach and of course Suzuki isn't being offered or asked for.

Most Jets fans just want people to use common sense when posting offers, Dvorak & Fl 1st isn't even arguable positive value, thats brutal value see the Dvorak trade thread, better to not trade him if thats the best offer and play him next year and trade him at the TDL or through the year or get a OS return. Dvorak has no value, he might even be negative value TBH.

So you see the Habs have a very hard time putting together any competitive offer bc all their win now pieces are bad and all they have left is futures which the Jets sounds like don't want. So where is any common ground? Not sure

PLD + 18

Dach + 5
I think you are on to something. Likely take out the 18oa and add some prospect like Harkin’s. After all it is Montreal circling back to the Jets, not the other way around. Jets already have a great offer in the bank from LA.

Ask your GM why, he apparently wants PLD.....Chevy refused his offer last summer (rumored) and has again so far this summer (as it was reported Habs have talked to the Jets about PLD again this summer).......so Chevy has rejected two offers at a min from the Habs between last summer and this summer.

Jets fans don't care where he goes, just want whatever the market will give at the most.

Well it would be a massive slap in the face to Cole Caufield to convince him to sign for the same price as Suzuki, respecting the "hierarchy" of the team to then go on and instantly offer someone who's not even a member of the team more.

Not really. Caufield doesn't deserve Dubois money or get paid more than Suzuki. The respect the hierarchy thing is kind of dumb when there's no legendary superstar captain on the Habs right now.

Kings give Montreal a get out jail card, and they want back in?

The winner(s) of this situation are the teams who are gong to avoid giving this guy a long term contract.

We are playing off the unenviable position PLD has seemingly put Chevy in. I fully realize I am offering a shit deal for PLD with Dvorak, Harris and Florida 1st and that the Jets could get better from LA. We are banking on the fact PLD appears to want to come home and the fact that PLD would augment our young core. I do not want to add him at the cost of that.

If you get a better deal, one that PLD is comfortable with, then absolutely you should take it.

I'm just being greedy and taking advantage of a shitty situation for Winnipeg. But again, I only want him if we can be greedy about it. Time will only tell if this game works for us. If not....meh.

No he isn't. MTL isn't moving their 5th for PLD in any shape or form.

Local reporter and frequent Sportsnet contributor Ken Wiebe suggested Jansen Harkins is likely included. Signed on a two way played mostly in the AHL this year but is good enough as a cheap 4th liner for a cap conscious team like LA. Honestly he was probably too good to play in the AHL I'm not sure why he was sent down.

Oh I get that, no issues with greed haha......but the point is Dvorak, Harris and Fl 1st isn't even enough to beat an OS return from any team or a trade next year purely as a rental. Thats our point.......DVorak, Harris and FL 1st breaks down as Harris pays for Dvorak dump and so really that offer is only Fl 1st rd pick which gets beat by all teams OS returns and purely as a rental next year.....so that would never happen.
