I think Chevy is circling back to see if they will add Hoffman to the Dvorak package.
Rumor has it that Hoffman was proposed free of charge (no salary retain) to all teams and no one bite.
Are the jets really in need of dead-weight?

A new contract is always the longest step so no surprise there, reports are now that the Habs circling back again with a new offer so we shall see what happens
Ill put it out here one more time as a Habs fan.

I want PLD.

I want him at the price of Dvorak + Florida 1st + Beck/Harris/Roy/Kidney/Farrell/Mesar/Engstrom/Norlinder/Barron

I want him at 8 million a year.

If either of these things is off, I will be tepid at best.

If we include any of Dach/Hutson/Guhle/5th overall are in the deal I will feel like we overpaid and angry.

If LA beats our above offer with something that would have required someone from the Dach group, then I will be indifferent.

So....we can banter about actual cost all day long. But this is the value with which I place on PLD and my expected reactions whichever way this goes.

Or it could be the Jets don't really like the Kings offer and or can't get Vilardi to sign long term.

I hope Hughes isn't offering Dach.
vilardi is still under control for four years, doubt they are worried about that right now

Am I the only one who doesn't get what all the fuss is about PLD?

I'm not saying he's not a good player, BTW. He just doesn't seem to be the huge trade package and $8M - $9M a year player it sounds like he'll get the treatment of.

Dreger and Ferraro said that toronto series consistently gets brought up from NHL personel on why he is so valuable

i mean it was a bubble year

Take that for what you will.

He hasn't earned that.
It's crazy.
Very few UFAs do. A ltd means ufa years. The cap is expected to take a large jump after they get out of the escrow situation. Is a 2c a $9 million? Not in many people's eyes. Kevin Hayes got more than $7 million without every having put up a 50 point season (granted he had 42 in 51 his last year in NYR).

That would be something. As would be seeing the complete 180 from Jets fans on Dach if that trade went through.
Dach has always been the ask from chevy (I'm guessing)

He's younger and on a better contract but AS OF NOW not as good as PLD (and I don't think he ever will be, but Habs fans have watched him more and think he may be)

Habs offer has to be clearly better than the Kings offer for it to take. Chevy is buds with Bergevin and as much as we hate it, the NHL is still somewhat of an old boys club. All things being equal Chevy will trade him to LA where Bergevin works as a "favor" if the two packages are roughly similar.
