Neither do I

He is over hyped, same way KK and Chucky were, etc etc

He might be a decent 3C but they are not hard to find

If the ask was Dach for PLD straight up, Montreal is nuts not to take that

I would even do Dach + Florida 1st

Florida 1st will probably turn into nothing anyway
Dach is more valuable than PLD when you take their AAV into account

Domi looked great in his first season as a hab too ;)

I wouldn't get too excited about Dach.......yet

and I want a Corvette for the price of a Honda Civic
And Dubois might turn into Drouin and completely fall off the rails after his big contract.

Obviously anything can happen but let's not pretend like Dubois is guaranteed to succeed in Montreal that trading Dach is a no brainer. Dubois' stats when he doesn't have elite talent to take away tough matchups (see post Panarin Jackets) is not that good. In Montreal, he will be on a roster similar to that one.

Kings are a better fit and Jets will be able to get more young players as they are loaded with talent. Montreal has barely anything to give with the mess Bergevin left.

Last thing Montreal needs is to give up the little young depth they have to get a 8+M player who's not guaranteed to succeed. It's one thing if they are trading roster players like Dvorak/Anderson (again, thanks Bergevin), but another when dealing with 21 year old top 3 picks. Ironically, Kings aren't giving up their Dach in Byfield either. Before you say Byfield is more valuable, it's moot as he would be the comparable. Expendable guys like Vilardi is not something Montreal has....

2 firsts last year
2 firsts this year
Another first from the Monahan trade

Montreal will be able to pull a deal off like this when its the right time, its not like 2C's like PLD don't get moved every summer.

The fact that "he wanted to play in Montreal" means zilch if:

We have to pay fair market value or more in a trade acquisition
and
We have to pay fair market value or more in contract negotiations

Looks like the jets drove a hard bargain, and good for them, and PLD and his agent aren't taking a hometown discount anywhere. PLD is good value at 7.0-7.5 per year but sounds like he wants more than that.

From Lebrun

It sure feels like the Kings are front-runners on Pierre-Luc Dubois, but as of Sunday evening, there was still lots of work to be done on that front. It didn’t help that both front offices were traveling Sunday to Nashville, putting some conversations on hold.

The Habs have tried here, for sure, but it sounds like they’re simply not as good a trade fit for a Jets team that doesn’t want to rebuild. The Kings can provide players who can step into the Jets lineup right away.

Again, there’s still work to be done here. Not to mention the fact that even after both teams put the trade parameters together, the Kings will want to know they can sign Dubois, who is a restricted free agent. Those contract conversations haven’t happened yet, either. The Jets and Kings would both need to feel comfortable a trade was in the final stages before the Kings got to that conversation with the Jets’ blessing.

Problem with PLD he leaves you wanting more.
He’s not a 9 million dollar player.
Not sure what Cheveldayoff’s plan is but whatever it is , it can’t wait until TDL the time is now.

Here's hoping a good night sleep and Blake wakes up today wondering what he was thinking and runs away from this.

Keep Gabe, let PLD go to whatever team will sign him next year and instead focus on improving the blue line and in net.

Yeah, and a $9m contract to an already bloated cap situation is really going to turn it around!

I'm good with our rebuild situation.
I don’t understand a team about to lose 4 core pieces and possibly heading into a very bleak situation throwing stones at another franchise for where they finished in the standings during the middle of their rebuild.

This is a Jets - Kings trade thread and it is FILLED with Habs fans. Y’all are beyond obsessed with PLD.
He's been linked to us for more than a year, that paired with the fact that we have one of the biggest fanbase... Not really hard to understand.

And i personally seen non-habs fans talk about Dach more than anything

Anyone can be in this thread. It's not limited to Jets-Kings fans only, and it's not just Habs fans that keep bringing that up.

Besides, it's not a trade thread, as PLD hasn't been traded yet, it's a "rumour" to be traded thread which is quite different.

Dubois and a 50% retained Hellebuyck would be a fun, little blockbuster…

PS: I think Chevy is just grinding out the best deal possible. Will Montreal come into play? Will Hughes finally offer up Dach to get the francophone hero to Montreal?
idk why ur still talking about Dach thats not happening if Hughes was willing to trade him Dubois would probably already be a Hab Chevy can send him to LA thats fine but Kirby is staying here

Is anybody really going to be surprised when PLD doesn’t come to an agreement on a long term extension with LA and this all blows up?
Going to be amusing to watch.

The fact that according to Lebrun that contract situations hadn't started yet as of an hour ago is crazy. This "deal" was leaked like 36 hours ago.

I understand the teams were traveling to the draft yesterday but LA to Tennessee isn't exactly some super long/hard flight.

We have no certain information on what has or hasn’t been offered from L.A. or Montreal. Maybe Vilardi and Dach have been offered and LA added more? GMs blow smoke all the time and these “insiders” are always looking to be the first to break trades.

When the Jets got Dubois from Columbus, there was a rumour that we had to outbid a package based on Vilardi and that's why we threw Roslovic into the trade (that and he was sitting out and happens to be one of the few pro hockey players ever from Columbus).

I always wondered if we could have pulled off a 3 way trade in that scenario, and it seems like now in a roundabout way, we may finally be about to make it real
