The fact that it's been a day or more and none of the major outlets have picked this up is telling.
Except that they've never been shy about piping up to shut down the rumors. Friedman retweeted Wiebe saying that Harkins is likely to be involved. Does he do that without knowledge of it happening?

Dubois may not go to the Kings, that's the nature of trades, sometimes they fall apart for any of a million different reasons. I have no doubt that it's a very real possibility that is or was being discussed. If it doesn't happen that doesn't mean that it was never a possibility and reporters were making shit up, sometimes it just doesn't happen.

Yup. Sometimes reporters smell smoke and report a fire. It’s hit or miss. Just hope to see an end to this saga in the next couple days

There is definitely some heavy petting going, we dont know if they are playing "just the tip" yet but thats when the media jackals will light up the twitter boxes.

And the ones who are reputable tend to shut it down if it's false. The issue is the conspiracy that the media automatically can't be trusted. They're reporting what they're hearing. Ken Wiebe isn't trying to get ahead by making shit up. This is Winnipeg, making shit up about us isn't a path to success. No one cares.

Yeah we're rebuilding and we'll keep a very cost controlled emerging player like Dach over trading him and more for the privilege of signing Dubois to $9M a year. We are indeed perfectly fine, thanks.

Usually, rebuilding teams don’t stress out about the salary cap. You add a dump like Dvorak to Dach and it is almost a salary cap wash in a Dubois trade. You have plenty of salary cap room after factoring Price on LTIR. Salary cap during rebuilding should be irrelevant over the next three years, especially when more of your bad contracts fall off the books.

The thing is Dach looks to be just as good as Dubois in the next few years. Why would we make a lateral trade or at best a slight upgrade and dump future rental assets and capital as well to do so? If Winnipeg were alright with pure future we would be better trading partners.

LA
Vilardi had 45 points in 68 games this season and is very much on the ascent in his career.

He will also likely be paid around 6 million less than PLD this upcoming season.

That’s a great move for the Jets, and it doesn’t even factor in the rest of the deal.

Dubois and a 50% retained Hellebuyck would be a fun, little blockbuster…

PS: I think Chevy is just grinding out the best deal possible. Will Montreal come into play? Will Hughes finally offer up Dach to get the francophone hero to Montreal?
Nope.

If he is in negos with L.A. then he was never really that serious about Montreal anyways. The Habs shouldn't up their offer at all.

I know the media in Montreal will lose their minds he if he traded elsewhere but they are just trying to rile up the francophones for hits and views. The truth is that The Habs can find some French Canadians to fill that need for much cheaper and use the big assets for a RHD. Thats a bigger need than a PLD anyways....

Is anybody really going to be surprised when PLD doesn’t come to an agreement on a long term extension with LA and this all blows up?
Going to be amusing to watch.
Personally I dont believe anything until I see him pull on another teams jersey.....

He was never going to Mtl.
If he really wants 9+ Thats a good thing

You aren’t getting Dach. You need to give up the dream.

Domi looked great in his first season as a hab too ;)

I wouldn't get too excited about Dach.......yet

But....

I want him at the cost of a package close to Dvorak, Harris and Florida 1st.

and I want a Corvette for the price of a Honda Civic

This Jets fan never wanted Dach to begin with. Don’t see anything special there.

It’s clear Dubois is not going to Montreal so it would be nice to stop discussing him. To anyone that wanted him or didn’t want to trade him, move on already.

Two things here....

1) Dach has far more tools in his toolbox than Domi. If you can't see that, you clearly don't follow the Habs.

2) Your car analogy is stupid. But, if you must. Dealership has a Corvette for sale for 100K. You take a look at it and say, you know what....I think this is worth 80K. I'm not comfortable paying the 100K for this Corvette. Another buyer comes in and pays the 100K. Are you going to be mad? Maybe you head out and buy an F150 for 80K and a boat for 20K to tow behind it.

He really didn't. He had no defensive game to speak of and cherry picked more than Kovalev. You can even go to our board threads from that year and nobody considered Domi untouchable despite his offensive breakout. Many suggested trading him at peak value.

Neither do I

He is over hyped, same way KK and Chucky were, etc etc

He might be a decent 3C but they are not hard to find

If the ask was Dach for PLD straight up, Montreal is nuts not to take that

I would even do Dach + Florida 1st

Florida 1st will probably turn into nothing anyway
