Washington, D.C.
I’m a firm believer in karma. If a GM isn’t going to negotiate in good faith, then it comes back to haunt them.

Like the Rangers this year when Kane forced his way to them. Congrats on getting a huge steal, I hope you enjoyed your first round exit. It’s a moot point though since PLD is clearly out going to the Habs, but people remember these scenarios.
What does Kane forcing his way to NY have to do with negotiating in “good faith”?

More and more I wonder if this "deal" has been leaked only as an attempt to start a bidding war, but without the deal being 100% completed and without the insurance that PLD can reach a deal with LA. It would be in the Jets interest to do this. No chance LA would dangle Vilardi and Iafallo's names unless a deal is done.

It's the Jets telling the other teams : "Hey guys, we could get Vilardi and Iafallo in a potential sign and trade, so hurry up and increase your offer!".

In reality, the offer might be lower if he's traded as a RFA, or if PLD only wants to sign long term with 1 or 2 teams.
Nothing stops Dubois from demanding 10 million from LA vs 8.5 from Habs.

No. La needs a 2nd line center. Danault is not that. Having Byfield and PLD down the middle will be huge for LA.
To be honest that's why Danault left Montreal though. His play became very lacklustre and he became a slouch in other areas when pushed into the third line center role. He won't accept being demoted and still give 100%. That's why fans turned on him.

A slouch? What kind of revisionist history is this? Suzuki was just very good very quick and Kotkaniemi was a leading scorer in consecutive playoff runs. So Danault knew he was being pushed down for them. Thats why he wanted out

And he went on a massive scoreless streak and was starting to get outworked defensively by Jake Evans. Until the playoffs came along and he gave 150% in our finals run.

Damn, Vilardi is a 6'3", 215 lbs winger with draft pedigree and scored 23 goals in 63 games last year at 23 years old. Doesn't seem like a guy you wanna be trading. In fact, that's the big body you want to pair with PLD.
Had to be Vilardi or Byfield but due to contracts, trading Vilardi makes more sense for LA’s salary cap.

I think most assumed vilardi or Byfield would be included, we also assumed Jets would take Arvidson or Iafalo and some picks, likely the one they acquired in the durzi trade cuz lol originally its montreals and that's funny. I feel it may be bigger tho with more players involved going both ways
