I think Dubois is far too risky to invest this much into. He's now demanded trades 3 times in his short career. Twice in the NHL, and once in juniors.

Never asked fora trade in junior. That's just something people who don't know any better say.

It was reported he was asking 9m, but would be willing to take less from a contender.

I'm expecting something around 8-8.5

I think he will use Horvat as a comparable, and argue he has more upside.

If my team were to sign him I'd want him in around 8m, and I'd think that's fair.

He still is young enough to potentially improve, you are buying a lot of UFA years, and the cap is set to go.up substantially in short order.

I think fair value is probably something like 7.5 - 8M as of today's flat cap and also given his age. But he's probably looking for max money. Probably get 8.5M+.

If he doesn't produce 70+pts/season this will be a bad contract.

That's up to you, I feel like it's a good bet to take with the cap going up (8x8). We will see who is closer if does sign long term I guess.

Harkins does not have big value.

I read that he did not ask for a trade in junior. He refused to go on a road trip with his team due to depression and he was traded immediately after that. I believe that is consistent with his tendency to act like a big entitled baby.

I would have no issues with Dubois at 8.4M like Hintz.

He’s not even a 1C on a fair to middling team.

He can certainly play like one and just turned 25 a few days ago. He’s still got room to grow

This is the part that stuns me the most. Why aren't the Jets planning a rebuild and triggering it with the PLD trade?? Why not demand Byfield and other young assets? I like Vilardi, don't get me wrong, but i think the Jets should be rebuilding given the pending exodus of players that want out.

Rebuilds in less desirable markets take a very long time.
