God no. Its way out in the suburbs. In the middle of nowhere. And really poorly setup. There are only a few entry / exit points to the arena resulting in traffic both ways. Its abysmal.

No ik that I grew up there. You replied to the poster talking about DT Winnipeg though. DT Ottawa is quite nice.

It’s actually not bad traffic wise if your educated on the area and know where to park. Parking at the arena is the dumbest thing to do I’ll give ya that.

31 + Dach + an overpayment of a contract? Yeah, Habs blew it! LOL

Its shocking that you are unaware there is a cap system in the NHL. I believe Dach will be the better player when all is said and done based on the strides he made last season. I think he will break out as a 2C this season, whilst on a team friendly contract.
Wow, Habs fans are coping hard. This is a ridiculous take. Dach might be a 3C on a decent team or the 3rd best player on the 2nd line wing. When he’s healthy.

This is a ridiculous take. If you are trading for Dach, you are trading for his potential and not for what he was last season (which was pretty good btw and he made significant progress offensively). Using your logic, you wouldn't put value in a 1st round pick because none would make much of an impact in year 1 in the NHL.

Works the other way around as well though.

Galchenyuk and his cohorts partying the night before games. The distractions in more cosmopolitan cities will have impact on the less professional players.

The NHL player experience is specific to the player and can't be generalized. Some might prefer a small city like Winnipeg for family reasons. Others may prefer the glitz/glamor of NY. Some might have no ambition at all and want to live in Toronto. Its a personal choice. ;)

It can be generalized, because every NHL poll rates it as the worst, or close to worst city.

The argument was Winnipeg isn't that bad due to ... outdoors, etc, etc.

My answer was, yeah, but majority of players don't see that. Their experience is the arena and the hotels around that. They see one small part of it & assume the rest. I don't think Winnipeg is terrible, but they aren't exactly putting their best step forward with their downtown arena area.

I'm cool with this. Vilardi is probably looking for close to 5M a year + adding Iafallo's 4M into the deal will free up plenty of space.

No way he's at 5 yet. That's Juice's type money, after he had a 30 goal season. 3-4 at most on a bridge deal. Kempe got a 3 year bridge deal then got paid.

And that's why True North is trying to buy up and re-develop downtown, which is badly needed.

Can we get back to PLD talk

Not sure I agree with you on progression, especially when a player makes a big jump in his last year.

Heck, look at Blake Wheeler.

Look at the number of players whose top scoring year comes at or b4 that age. It is huge. Big jump in a contract year. How much weight do you want to put on that? Vilardi is probably a 50 pt, 2 way winger, if he ever puts in a full season. There is nothing wrong with that. We have room for that player. Doesn't come close to replacing Dubois though.

We need an add to this deal that is better than Iafalo. One with future value. And I don't mean Turcotte. How about Francesco Pinelli? Don't know the player but his stats look promising and he is a C.

So happy Hughes didn't get in a bidding war for Dubois i would of took him has a UFA with decent contract but nowhere close to the 9m he's asking for so now we can move on with our rebuilt through the next 2 drafts.

maybe wait until the actual trade is announced before you say we should add to get a better return...

I feel Blake tends to overpay for stuff like this. Trading Vilardi is going to haunt us.
I hope you are right. As a base this trade is as probably as good as Jet fans can hope for. I do have faith in the Jets pro scouts. But if I had my choice I’d rather the Jets have Dubois for 8 years than traded him.

Not sure why LA does this. PLD has already quit on 2 teams. He a malcontent who will end up costing LA some nice pieces.

Winnipeg wins this trade just getting him off the team.
