Just like when Huberdeau was traded, some might be, but most are not.Habs fans in shambles
Also cant help but laugh at this return compared to the Dvorak+ garbage that was spewed around here for weeks now.
I think one of Arvidsson/Moore is traded as well. How do they keep Arvidsson while signing Dubois for $9M? The math barely works without him.
They went on a hot streak but their multiple misses in the top 5/10 is going to catch up to them at some point in the near future. They were a pretty great team down the stretch. Not favourites or anything but they have been close but no cigar with EDM. I'd say they are T-3rd for best in West wIth DAL AND COL
Why are players just expected to accept whatever crap situation they get drafted into/traded to? I don't blame Jets or Jackets fan for resenting him but I certainly don't blame PLD for wanting to shape the course of his own career. Tkachuk did the same thing last summer and look how that worked out.I would put SJ and Arizona in there as undesirable. That said, name me another player that asked out of 2 markets before he turned 23 years old? If that's not a red flag, i don't know what is.
Then you put him in the hotstove that is Montreal? That's a huge risk. Drouin had mental health issues due to the french media and pressure. PLD strikes me as not very mentally strong and selfish. To declare (via his agent) you want to play in Montreal whilst a Jet? That ain't right. That was a dick move. Don't blame Jets fans bitterness with the entire ordeal.
But to me, Habs were smart to avoid this grenade.
Its a blessing for the Habs. This was an unnecessary distration. To give up significant assets for PLD then have to pay him 9M AAV (as reported) for a 2C. Coupled with PLD's potential to want out when the going gets tough...
The best move was no move for the Habs.
As for L.A. i can see the merit in this trade. Kopitar's shelf life is maybe another year or 2. They really needed a 2C.
Garbage offers were smart offers from the Habs. Offering anything of significant and then having to overpay PLD would have been a travesty.
Hughes is smart not to cave under the pressure. Its finally nice to have a GM that has a measured approach to these issues.
I wish PLD best in LA and hope he finds stability there. For a player of his stature, LA is a good place to be rather than wasting away in a bottom feeder market like Wpg.
If Winnipeg gets Valiardi in return, that's a win IMO.
You can make your intentions known privately rather than blasting it to the media. That is a thing...Why are players just expected to accept whatever crap situation they get drafted into/traded to? Not to mention calling everyone else a bunch of idiots when we pointed out thats not fair value.Look, I agreed with you that it wasn’t a great idea for the Habs to trade for Dubois but pitching garbage deals that would never be accepted was just ignorant. Habs fans should have just sat out the discussion and simply said it doesn’t make sense to trade assets for a rebuilding team for Dubois. Not hard.
I’m really hoping for Spence. RHD is a huge need.Very much looking forward to this, if it goes down as reported easily the the best offer the Jets fans have seen at least by the fans on HFB. Good young & exciting player (only concern is his back is fine but Jets will get that confirmed medically) and a solid middle six player with a reasonable contract (both cap hit & real dollars which is important). Looking forward to see what is all else part of the trade.
Pitching garbage deals was kind of entertaining though from my end. (can't speak for Habs fans). It was fun to gain the Jets fans ire with them!Look, I agreed with you that it wasn’t a great idea for the Habs to trade for Dubois but pitching garbage deals that would never be accepted was just ignorant. The media is a tool to be used as leverage in these situations. Sounds like PLD and his agent are going to achieve their exact desired outcome, a long-term contract in a place he wants to play. I'm not sure why they should give a shit about hurting Jets fans' feelings. You can make your intentions known privately rather than blasting it to the media. That is a thing...
Are we really going to pretend that Habs fans weren't acting like they were gunna get Dubois for free?? That's hilarious.Just like when Huberdeau was traded, some might be, but most are not.
There's a reason hab fans offered a lowball offers.
Then again you've been wrong waaaaaaay more than right.
Someday you'll get it, bud. Some day.
But it's true we don't need to trade for himI am going to laugh at every Hand fans that said “We DoN’t NeEd To TrAdE fOr HiM. We CaN gEt HiM fOr FrEe NeXt SuMmEr”
He wont be.Hoping Spence is included
What's a Hand Fan? Like a chinese fan?I am going to laugh at every Hand fans that said “We DoN’t NeEd To TrAdE fOr HiM. We CaN gEt HiM fOr FrEe NeXt SuMmEr”
If we were going to get him it was for free yes that was the plan all along its not hard to comprehend . It was always for free or just not getting the guyAre we really going to pretend that Habs fans weren't acting like they were gunna get Dubois for free?? That's hilarious.
Anyone they draft this season will be 6 years younger than Suzuki. They likely won't even enter their prime until he's pushing 30Suzuki and PLD up the middle for 17 million+ during their 26-32 seasons get you what exactly with that lineup? Still have another 2 years and drafts imo to clean house and find core players. The only Dman you can really say will be there in 3 years is Kaiden Guhle for example, everyone else on the backend is a question mark.
