Yeah ages ago when he wasn't mentally or physically fried.Murray won the cup.
It’s definitely nice to see Murray’s buyout cost being fairly cheap but I highly doubt it’ll get to that point. When Murray has been healthy, he’s been a good goalie. There’s plenty of teams looking for goaltenders and not many good ones with Murray’s resume available. He’d also only have 1 year remaining on his contract so it’s not like any team would be locked in with him long term.View attachment 667714
Wow, very happy to see a Matt Murray buyout is easily done this summer, costing us only $687,500 next season and $2m in 24/25 against the Cap.
Those gloomers/trolls saying it will cost us our 1st to move on from Murray if it continues to be a bad fit here, can put it into park. The Leafs are going to either use that 1st at the Draft, either to pick their player, moved down to get more picks, or in a trade to get a player. It will not be wasted to move on from Murray.
I think Samsonov is the goalie who starts the playoffs until he should falter, and I think next year we are running Samsonov/Woll. Murray needs to be moved on from.
No doubt, I think Murray has value in a trade if he can stay healthy. It’s definitely nice to see Murray’s buyout cost being fairly cheap but I highly doubt it’ll get to that point. Unless Murray goes on some crazy playoff run, I expect our goaltending tandem to be Samsonov - Woll next year.
Well the most recent time he was part of a stanley cup winning team he needed MAF to get 9 of the 16 required wins. Since that was 6 years ago it really doesn't matter since Murray is no where near the goalie he was at that time so its a moot point. My comment stands......last time Matt Murray was a SC winning goalie he needs MAF to get more than half of the required wins.
Who would you pick as your started in Gm1 of the playoffs? and Why?
Murray likely should/will get the start if he's good to go.
He's got the playoff pedigree to know what to expect mentally. I also would rather trust him late game when the team needs to shut the door
You get the feeling that management is really hoping he gets hot so they can justify him staying starting the first game in the playoffs. Are we done yet with the Murray experiment?
