Murray started off fine but he's been extremely bad lately.

I'm starting to learn sometimes playoff stats matter and sometimes they don't.

I want Murray to get some more starts down the stretch. If he doesn't look good, go with Samsanov, but I just think Murray can be the better goalie.

I trust neither goalie right now.

If I had to pick right now, I would go with Samsonov. Murray let in 4 bad goals last game... out of 4 total goals.

However, if Murray turns it around before the playoffs I would prefer him. I definitely think having playoff experience matters. Look at Campbell the last 2 years, his stats went to pure shit the second we had a chance to eliminate, he gets too nervous. A guy with 2 Cups shouldn't be as nervous, a young goalie like Samsonov probably would be nervous.

Murray will start IF HEALTHY .. but it is a BIG IF .. we need a $$$ tender who has closed da door and knows how to close da door .. 2 Cup rings and 1 of those he was best player on ice and should have won Conn Smyth (but they couldn't give it to a rook)

Murray reminds me of Grant Fuhr always good enough to not in the next one in big games, however as highly regarded as Fuhr was he almost always lost his starting gig.

Wow, very happy to see a Matt Murray buyout is easily done this summer, costing us only $687,500 next season and $2m in 24/25 against the Cap.

Those gloomers/trolls saying it will cost us our 1st to move on from Murray if it continues to be a bad fit here, can put it into park. The Leafs are going to either use that 1st at the Draft, either to pick their player, moved down to get more picks, or in a trade to get a player. It will not be wasted to move on from Murray.

I think Samsonov is the goalie who starts the playoffs until he should falter, and I think next year we are running Samsonov/Woll. Murray needs to be moved on from.
It’s definitely nice to see Murray’s buyout cost being fairly cheap but I highly doubt it’ll get to that point. When Murray has been healthy, he’s been a good goalie. There’s plenty of teams looking for goaltenders and not many good ones with Murray’s resume available. He’d also only have 1 year remaining on his contract so it’s not like any team would be locked in with him long term.

Unless Murray goes on some crazy playoff run, I expect our goaltending tandem to be Samsonov - Woll next year.

No doubt, I think Murray has value in a trade if he can stay healthy.

I posted more than anything to silence the gloomers/trolls who are already gleefully declaring that the Leafs will have to part with "another 1st round pick" to get rid of Murray.

It get's old but if folks insist on making themselves look like donkeys........... well, hee-haw! :)

If Murray is 100% healthy. I prefer him against the style of play for TB. He is quieter and calmer and takes up more net.

I am also not opposed to both playing.

Leafs would probably using both...

But if samsonov starting, Murray already proven by the past he can enter in middle of a serie and get the job done if samsonov fail...

But leafs start with Murray over , i think that can hurt samsonov confidence and im not sure if hes enough strong mentally to overcome from that...

Samsonov already won the job. Unfortuntely Keefe needs to keep tossing Murray out there to prove his boss right.

Samsonov and AINEC.

All the people who say Murray experience, Winner etc etc. He hasn't won anything since like 2018. Who cares what he did 5 years ago.

I'm not sure why so many think that Murray has this internal playoff beast mode in him that he can activate at any time. He doesn't. His flaws are very obvious. He plays way too deep in the net and doesn't use his size to cut off angles. That's why he knocks the net off of the posts so many time when he gets up. Because he's already in the net. Didn't he do that 3 times in one game? And he might as well have his glove hand tied behind his back. That's how effective it is. I have little faith in him going forward.

Why are they talking about the Habs game during the Leafs game on a channel that doesn't carry the Habs game?

SN broadcasts are getting worse as the year goes on.

P.S. Wasn't this a 7:30 start, nice job NHL

Well the most recent time he was part of a stanley cup winning team he needed MAF to get 9 of the 16 required wins. Since that was 6 years ago it really doesn't matter since Murray is no where near the goalie he was at that time so its a moot point. My comment stands......last time Matt Murray was a SC winning goalie he needs MAF to get more than half of the required wins.

I mean he was going to be game 1 starter in round 1 but he got hurt and if I recall correctly his 2nd game back as the backup is the game Fleury got pulled from and he never gave up the net again. so while yes he needed Fleury to win those game because of injury, he didn't need him to win any because of his play,

Is Sammy injured or something?

I get the purpose of getting Murray more reps and overall he was better than he was against Edmonton but he’s still a swimmer and a rebound machine.

Weird spot in the schedule with lots of teams twice some great some bad but just why? His performance in Edmonton when the boys said ‘naw f*** this’ in six minutes was so boner inspiring? That can’t be it because I recall two very suspect goals.
