Pick your playoff starter -> Samsonov or Murray?

Just watching the game now and Murray shouldn’t even be in the NHL let alone start in the playoffs

why did Dubas have to pick up Murray? ffs.

Because to Dubas goaltending is an afterthought

Why is everyone assuming Murray will be the starter? Samsonov has a larger body of work this year and I can't say I have any major complaints about him.

Murray has been a mixed bag, more good games than bad but I think the long layoffs in between starts disrupts his rhythm.

Samsonov has been good but I think we use him too much when Woll should have gotten some more reps. Down the stretch we should be using Murray more just to keep the workload light for Samsonov. Ideally I think he plays 45 games in total. There's just under 20 games left so keep limit him to 10 games the rest of the way.

Still plenty of hockey to be played but if I had to choose today, Samsonov has been the better goalie for us. I’d be going with him.

Samsonov can be a little up and down but then it becomes about the team in front of him getting it done.

Woll should be getting more games, ice floe Kallgren in the summer.

Murray could pull it together, but even with the W tonight was not good. Kane and Drai both got very lucky goals, Kane’s was especially bad.

I’ll give a pass on the Ekholm goal, that shot was too good, he had a six inch space and he put it there, and McDavid is McDavid.

But he saw Ekholm the whole way and couldn’t get his 5-hole closed fast enough on the McDavid goal - fundamental problems that he shouldn’t be having.

Wow, very happy to see a Matt Murray buyout is easily done this summer, costing us only $687,500 next season and $2m in 24/25 against the Cap.

Those gloomers/trolls saying it will cost us our 1st to move on from Murray if it continues to be a bad fit here, can put it into park. The Leafs are going to either use that 1st at the Draft, either to pick their player, moved down to get more picks, or in a trade to get a player. It will not be wasted to move on from Murray.

I think Samsonov is the goalie who starts the playoffs until he should falter, and I think next year we are running Samsonov/Woll. Murray needs to be moved on from.

If you start with Sammy and he doesn't blow it then you go with him the full series, IMO. Can't imagine it's Game 4 and we're up 2-1 for example and we throw Murray in.

Obviously Samsonov. I'm not even 100% sure I'd prefer Murray over Woll as the backup. I do think Murray is better to have than not, as he does have mental toughness and has done it before

I imagine the playoff approach will take on a game-by-game scenario. This isn't exactly a pure starter/backup tandem in which there may be a minimal amount of confidence in turning to the backup if the starter falters. That stated, having either goalie take much of the reins throughout doesn't seem like it'd be indicative of anything other than a positive situation for the team in its own right.
